Can't really say what's the hardest I finished. I have a rather skewed definition of difficulty due to having been raised during the era of Nintendo Hard. Found things like Double Dragon 3, the Gameboy port of Solomons Key, and way too many badly designed Licensed Games to be of moderate difficulty since I have a high tolerance for cheap deaths and Unwinnable by Design. Well, unless if you're talking about Deadly Towers or Battle Toads <<;
I'd probably say beating the Mega Man 1 on the NES without using the Pause cheat (since I didn't know about it).

I'm close◊ to a 1CC of Darius Gaiden, on one of the easiest routes (A -> B -> D -> H -> L -> Q -> V).
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comMost of Donkey Kong Country Returns is very hard, I was lucky to beat some of the levels there.
I beat the sniper assassin series, does that count as anything?
edit: I beat general tor in Iji on hard

Oh.the dAMMED FORUM IS DEAD!
Oh.I know.
"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death itself may die."Beat the original Metroid (unlockable in Zero Mission!) with all items collected. The last missile and energy tanks in Ridley's lair are unbelievably vicious in their simplicity.
"Okay, so we're going to make you use the sketchy and inconsistent midair bombing controls to do a stunt double-bomb jump off the back of a frozen enemy into a teeny hole near the ceiling — oh, and the enemy gets scared and runs when it gets damaged, so you have to reset him on every attempt. Then right after that, we're going to make you do another stunt bomb jump with a low ceiling for each of the two powerups, and if you miss either one you fall down a really long shaft that forces you to pick your way back through most of the dungeon including two tunnels full of Goddamned Bats to get back up and then do the first stunt jump over again."

1-loop clear of Cho Ren Sha 68K.
Stages 1-1 through 1-5 aren't too bad; it's 1-6 where things start to get silly. 2-0 is where everything goes flying.
Then comes the 2nd loop, aka 1st loop WITH SUICIDE BULLETS!
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comSuper Mario Galaxy 2's World S stars, especially The Perfect Run were the hardest levels I've played through in a game in years.
There's what something is and there's how you see it.I beat the Perfect Run in Super Mario Galaxy 2, and I have 100% in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
I only really like playing Nintendo Hard video games if they're very fun, which is why I never beat I Wanna Be The Guy; it's a fun game, but most of that is based solely around its difficulty.
I just beat Mega Man Zero 3 with all A ranks. It was easier than I expected, but harder than most would attempt. I'm planning on all A ranking the rest of the series so I'm pretty much never going to stop playing Mega Man Zero...

Christ, your a monster. And here I was ready to brag about how regular V-Rated wasn't killing me horribly.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.
Nintendo Hard games and challenges I've completed... Hmmmm... It's a toss-up between :
And since it apparently counts, finishing Super Mario Sunshine with all Shines collected.
And I dunno if that counts too (since I didn't find this that hard), but I've finished Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master in Expert Mode with 0 Shuriken setting.
