@2: Same way we handle animals.
@3: Huh?

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!@ ^^
- The only time that "Gotta Catch 'Em All" ever affects the gameplay meaningfully is completing a regional 'dex of ~150 mons, which has been around since R/S.
- There's millions of species of animals in RL, 649 monstrosities (a massive chunk of which are different life stages of other monstrosities) is barely a drop in the bucket. As for everyone in the Pokemon world looking like idiots obsessed with superpowered creatures, that's a element that's been around since day one thanks to 'mons being serious business in-universe.
- This one is really subjective. While I'll admit that I'm not exactly fond of a large chunk of the designs in B/W, there's plenty of other Poke-fans that absolutely adore them, so it's not really fair to say that an entire multi-billiondollar/yen/whatever franchise should stop just because it no longer rubs you the right way. Also, you clearly haven't looked at your Pokedex entries a lot if you're just noticing tankerful of Nightmare Fuel 5 Gens in.
You're welcome to your opinion, just be aware that everyone else is also welcome to theirs.
Let's play a game about Pokémon...For the first point, I don't see anything wrong with having something to appeal to hardcore gamers. I wouldn't mind seeing them add in a reward for filling sections of the 'dex, though. Get all 151 1st gen 'mons, get one diploma; Get the 100 2nd gen critters, get a different diploma; Get all 251 from the first two gens, get a fancier diploma. Or something.
For the second, that's been a problem since the beginning. If anything, it makes more sense for the world revolve around an extremely large group of critters than it does a small one. Larger group means more niches are filled, more things that would've been done technologically are done with Pokemon, and so on.
As for the third... Well, that's a classic case of YMMV. I like a much larger proportion of the new 'mons than the old ones, because I like the more complex design and the unusual inspirations so many of them take. There's a difference between "poorly designed" and "I don't like it," is what I'm saying.

But somehow,◊Personally I like all the designs. I especially like this liitle guy.
THE MOST AWESOME POKEMON EVER!!
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! There may be a million species of animals in real life, but the number of species that are noticeably different in ways that would make for interesting Pokemon is a lot smaller. We're not going to see 500 beetle Pokemon which all look the same except that they have different numbers of spots and different sized antennae.
And I'm three generations behind (just finished gen 2 a few months ago) and catching all Pokemon was still ridiculous back then. I did do it in gen 1, but by heavily abusing glitches and looking up the Guide Dang It!.
Never bring up "designs are bad", because it's very subjective. I haven't seen all the Gen 5 Pokes yet, but like what I see so far.
Thanks.

"Subjective"
And I remind you that most Pokemon chains are actually different stages of life of the same animal.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I'm still confused by this mentality.
It's been said, but the whole "catch em all" thing has been done since Gen 2. And as far as I know, Japan never had that catch phrase. At this point, the only people who want to catch them all are collectors... It's always been the collectors who did that, and even back in the 1st and 2nd generations, it was difficult (for some people, like myself) to actually catch all the Pokemon *.
Not to mention all filling the Pokedex did was net you a diploma or something. It's like getting a high score in an arcade game and entering your initials. It was never intended to be the main function of the games, otherwise they would've given more incentives to fill up your dex (Cactuar Joe's got the right idea).
From what I've gathered, from both the games and the anime when I watched it, the purpose of the games is to foster friendly competition and (probably more importantly) more socialization between gamers. This may have been part of why Nintendo of America gave the series the "Gotta Catch Em All" catch phrase, in order to make it more evident that people needed to communicate with each other in order to (legally) do this.
Also, didn't Satoshi Tajiri base Pokémon off beetle fighting? There's a social element inherent in such a children's game in the first place.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakePokemon will never die. When the world ends and the sun has engulfed Earth, there will no longer be any organic life inhabiting it. The Pokemon will have long ago developed sentience and harvested the Earth for resources, departing on their great journey across the stars soon after.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialNo. It's the RPG equivalent of Madden, they will never stop making them, ever.
Live by the sword, live a good long timeExcept Pokémon is more enjoyable than Madden.

At some point in the future, one of the various nefarious teams finally managed to beat the local ten year old with monsters, and ended up destroying the Earth. Pokemon clung to the debris, eventually encountering other worlds and evolving new forms to survive on them. Hundreds of years later, humans have discovered interstellar flight, and find whole worlds full of never-before-seen Pokemon. It could be a sort of Xenosaga-meets-Pokemon! :D
But somehow,◊Super Pokemon Galaxy!

Three reasons why so many new pokemon is getting ridiculous:
1. A pokedez still REQUIRES you to "catch 'em all" but no casual players or fans are going to be able to do that. The challenge of capturing loads and loads of pokemon only appeals to hard-core gamers.
2. So many pokemon existing makes damn near everyone in the pokemon world look like idiots who have no lives. How can the ENTIRE WORLD revolve around humans coexisting with all these animals in so many different ways? It's just freaky.
3. The new pokemon are usually ugly. I know there were some poorly desinged pokemon in the older generations and some well designed ones in the new ones but it still seems like unoriginality is more dominant. And now they're even making so many of the Gen 5 pokemon into Nightmare Fuel. Are they trying to get pokemon cancelled?
