And there's the fact that not all Pokemon are even based off of animals.
Foreign objects, psychological concepts, cultural superstitions/legends...

"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeI believe the Japanese games never had "Gotta Catch 'Em All" as their catch phrase. But I wished they get rid of those Arceus-damned events.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Hopefully. Of course not. Like others have said, it makes Nintendo the most money behind Mario games.
Look up the move list of every cute pokemon. Chances are they have at least one move that can murder the hell out of you. Take, for example, the mascot of the series, Pikachu. Cute, cuddly, carries an electrical charge in it's body that can kill you. And Mew, a little pink cat-like thing that can mind rape you (as well as do just about anything else since it can learn every TM/HM, which includes Flamethrower, Blizzard, Earthquake, Thunder, and basically anything else that has ever killed anyone).
As for the topic. HELLS NO! They've got a sweet deal going. They release a game that's basically the same one as before with new stuff and people buy it. What's more, they release another version of the game at the same time, but with a different color for a name... and people buy that one too. It's actually a pretty good scheme playing off of the inability of people to remember that a short time after the games come out they release an Updated Release with a better story and pokemon from both games (which people then buy).
Do the math. Many people buy both Red/Gold/Ruby/Diamond/White, Blue */Silver/Sapphire/Pearl/Black, and then will buy Yellow */Crystal/Emerald/Platinum/Grey *. With current prices (about $50 for a new game), that comes out to around $150 spent on the games. Then add in how much is spent on the other games, cards, and various other things with "Pokemon" on it and it's making shit-tons of cash.
They have a farm full of cows with pure cash for milk, and they're gonna milk them all dry. Pokemon's not going anywhere, and I'm cool with it.

So, in the U.S., randomly stripping is a signal that you want to sing the national anthem? - That HumanThe cute Pokémon usually get more tools to kill you than anything. In the Normal fairy toolbox comes all the elementals, Psychic, Normal, Fighting, and an assortment of support that usually includes Encore, Yawn, Wish, etc.
It Just Bugs MeHopefully not. I want my kids to play Pokemon. With me.
lolnope. You highlighted this to see if I said Unfortunately, didn't you? Well, I didn't. So ha.
Pokemon will probably not end anytime in the near future, and I'm fine with that. There's still plenty of animals, plants, and objects that I'd like to see made into a Pokemon.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! But you did say unfortunately!
Pokemon is going to be a Long Runner, make no mistake.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Pokemon is the second best selling videogame franchise of all time!! Nothing short of Mario himself comes near this series's sales numbers. If everyone at Nintendo suffered brain damage at once, they still would not end this series. It'd be like Mc Donanld's suddenly declaring that they'll never sell fries again.
You know what, I'm just fine with that.

"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all" Futurama, Godfellas^^ Going to be? The franchise has been going on since 1996. That's, what, 14 years?

It Just Bugs Me^^Funny, I'm 14 and I've been a Pokemon fan since I was 3 or 4 years old. It's been a part of my life, and I want it to be a part if my kids' life, too.

Why does everyone call each new Pokemon the same game with different monsters?
That argument almost makes sense if you're blind enough not to realize the gym challenge elite four is padding and the main point of the game is trading and battling. Then you can ignore just how dramatically the "meta game" flips around. But even then, you usually have 100 new monster to choose from, with only a vague idea what they learn or how the evolve, balancing a new set of H Ms...new annoying puzzles to get to the gym leaders...
Then the games have a large amount of replay value.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackAlso it seems like plot might be an element from now on. That has some room for variation.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Well, for some people. I want the 30 hours I spend going from Pallet Town to Champion to be worth it. These hours only vary slightly from version to version. This monotony is the very reason why I skip the padding altogether by battling online.
It Just Bugs MeI'm glad the new games added some variation then.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!@OP: Yes.
Yes, it will definitely be the last generation for another few years. Let's not rush things, now.
Hell no. They're going to keep milking this cash cow until it's well past dead. And I don't particularly care one way or another.
I've never understood this question and I've never understood why Pokemon seems to be the only Nintendo series that consistently ( as in whenever a new generation comes forth, i.e. every gen since the 2nd) gets this question asked. Sure, Nintendo's other popular series' get this—hell, Long Runners in general get this, but not as much as Pokemon (which I suppose has to do more with the series being competitive).
I'm not saying it's not a legit thing to ask, but most of the time, it just feels like a variation of the "It sucks" complaints. In any case, I'm curious as to what the OP thinks, since he/she didn't give his/her own opinion.
As for my opinion, the fact that it's a cash cow says that it won't be going away anytime soon, but if Game Freak or Nintendo decide to pull the plug, so be it *.

If the whole 2012 doomsday thing is actually true (which I doubt), then it probably is.

Pokémon needn't make even new species to start another generation—not that they would be difficult to design. It's here to stay.
