Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Explanation of what triggers the too-long page warning

I've split Role-Playing Games into their own subpage, so the "too long" suggestion isnt' there anymore.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectImageSource.Anime And Manga, ImageSource.Webcomics and ImageSource.Western Animation are giving the warning. Should we split ?

These pages already have some works split off into their own subpages. Currently, works with a list of links longer than a single desktop screen (and thus probably enough for a subpage as well) are:
- Anime and Manga: Fullmetal Alchemist, Gundam, Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure, Naruto, Negima! Magister Negi Magi, Neon Genesis Evangelion, One Piece, Pretty Cure, Sailor Moon.
- Webcomics: Brawl in the Family, Cyanide and Happiness, Freefall, Gunnerkrigg Court, Oglaf, Sluggy Freelance, VG Cats
- Western Animation: Duck Tales, Gravity Falls, The Loud House, Phineas and Ferb, The Powerpuff Girls, Scooby-Doo, Steven Universe.
I've split off Summary.Licensed Games from Summary.Video Games, but the latter still has the banner. Should we further hard split the folders alphabetically into two pages: A-L and M-Z? I calculated the midpoint to be 44,651 bytes (rounded up, not counting the folder markup and the preface), hence the suggested divisions.

"I just want what everyone else has, that's all."I took care of the warning on ImageSource.Western Animation. But I am ubsure what to split from ImageSource.Anime And Manga and ImageSource.Webcomics

Well, Digimon's one page tall for me?
Could split the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise out.
Gundam?
Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure?
Webcomics:
Brawl in the Family?
Gunnerkrigg Court?
Oglaf?
VG Cats?

For ImageSource.Webcomics, Gunnerkrigg Court looks good enough to have its own subpage
I split off those four from Webcomics and the warning is gone now. It took splitting off all four to remove it.
- Gunnerkrigg: 53 examples
- Oglaf: 41
- Brawl: 37
- VG Cats: 37
- total: 168

I split off 3 from Anime and Manga Fullmetal Alchemist, Gundam, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but it is still showing the warning:
Maybe One Piece would free it some more as that three is pretty long but I have to head to work and can't handle that right now.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI split off One Piece, but the warning is still there.

Maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion or Naruto as they are both pretty big.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Try moving the Fighting Game examples onto a subpage. That's one of the biggest folders (which isn't surprising).
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Honestly, I'd just move all the video game entries to their own page first.
Yeah I would just move all of the video game examples and see how big that page is.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadSplit the videogame examples off into a subpage.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I noticed that Characters.Trails Series Ouroboros has a length notice. How should we split it?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AWell, "See this page for a list of characters in the series." Is unnecessary at least?
...
Can these overlap? Or do they have a familial relationship?
- Offscreen Villain Dark Matter: Ouroboros seems to have nigh-unlimited resources.
- Organization with Unlimited Funding:
Split out the Enforcers since they're like a group of their own, having so many folders and a General folder of their own?
Literature of the 2010s seems to be the first Literature by Year to need splitting into half-decades?

I've also attempted to give franchises and series their own subpage: Literature of the 2010s — Franchises and Series
