Trope decay is one of the reasons Why We Can't Have Nice Things.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.While "Crowning" was certainly becoming increasingly undescriptive, "Moment of Awesome" sounds clunky.
"Epic Moment of Awesome" is tautologous.
"Epic Moment", however, is possibly a good idea, since while "epic" and "awesome" are supposed to have similar meanings, "awesome"'s has been eroded due to spectacular overuse both on and off the internet. It's also a bit shorter to say and much shorter to type.
I think the name Moment of Awesome rolls of the tounge fine, but how come Funny Moments and Heartwarming Moments weren't changed with it?
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianI'm still trying to get an answer as to why "Crowning Music Of Awesome" still has the "Crowning" in it's title. I mean, yes, I prefer that name, but it just seems out of place now. Shouldn't it have been changed to "Awesome Music" when the others were changed for consistency's sake?
And, yes, there are many things that roll off the tongue better than "Awesome Moments", like "Crowning Moment Of Awesome", or "Moment Of Awesome", or even "Epic Moment of Awesome".

^ It was supposed to have been renamed a while ago. There was a name discussion that IIRC was leaning towards SugarWiki.Awesome Music.
I still stand by my idea (proposed in a thread that seemed to die a month or two ago) that we make one page called "Crowning Moments" or something like that, describing the phenomena of Crowning Moment Of Awesome, Crowning Moment Of Funny, Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming, and whatever other Crowning Tropes Of Whatever we have/had. We make it an example free, and then link to the Awesome Moments (because that's an at least better name than Moment Of Awesome), Funny Moments, and Whatever Moments pages at the bottom, such as:
- "For examples of these phenomena, see Blah, Blah, and Blah."
Now, what say you about that? If you guys support this idea, I'll make a YKTTW for it.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I actually heard the words "crowning moment" used on a daytime talk show the other day. Makes me wonder if it's not just a memetic term, but a pre-existing one.

Epic Moments of Awesome sounds good.
He who fights bronies should see to itthat he himself does not become a brony. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, Pinkie Pie gazes Also"Crowning moment" is indeed a preexisting term. However, it also has a specific meaning as a preexisting term: the epitome, the ultimate high point. Not simply "Hey, this is cool"
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Come to think of it, Moments Of Awesome could make a nice title, on similar logic to how Trope Namer (singular) redirects to Trope Namers (plural).
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I agree. The change to "Moment of Awesome" completely baffled me. "Crowning Moment of Awesome" was much less generic. It was supposed to indicate a PARTICULARLY awesome moment in a work. "Moment of Awesome" just doesn't have that same effect.
They call themselves seamstresses -Feet Of Clay"Supposed to be." The whole reason it changed is because people were dumping in the 6218 moments throughout the series' history that they found really cool.
This is why we can't have nice things.
"Moments of Awesome" just doesn't sound as good as "Crowning Moments of Awesome" or "Epic Moments of Awesome." Having a prefix to the current title would make it better.
Please, gods, don't call it "Epic" Moments of Awesome. I admit it's a pet peeve, but I hate the overuse (and misuse) of "epic" as an adjective.
Agreed. If I never hear "epic" outside of discussions of Homer again, it will be much too soon.
If this gets renamed, I suggest taking the opportunity to make it grammatical. Awesome is not a noun.
132 is the rudest number.FYI, I corrected the link in the thread and edited the title to indicate that it's simply a rename discussion, not a "rename to X" discussion. For the record, I do not support any further renames; the title as it stands works fine for what it's intended to be.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Micah: It's just being used as a convenient shorthand for "awesomeness".
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I realize that, but it still ; "convenient" doesn't mean "not wrong". It's not worth a rename on its own, but if one is happening anyway I'd prefer a name that doesn't have this flaw.
132 is the rudest number. What really me is the removal of the term itself. The "Crowning" just made it a unique and memorable trope name, and even if the original trope won't be renamed back (And I admit that it really doesn't fit the name anymore), we need a page called Crowning Moment of Awesome SOMEWHERE on TV Tropes. I kind of like 0dd's suggestion, but we should also have a Crowner for moments in general, too.
I'm a completely insane Asian highschooler with a strange affinity for firearms, anime, rice, technology, cold weather and Russia.@Kris Mahai: If someone does not vote, their opinion is not counted.
Can I just ask people to consider whether or not the idea I suggested above is good or not?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Sounds good.
