That's what I hear. It would take an "A Clockwork Orange" rig to get me to watch American Idol.

Thinking back to the "Unleashed" episode...

While a filler episode, how often does one see mad-scientist-created monsters on primetime TV at all?

I'm gonna try this livenblogging thing with "Midnight":

Probably Spoilers Below So Skim Over The Wall Of Text

  • So we open on a random guy while hearing about a strange murder on the radio... Is he the killer?
  • Strange focus on the pentagrammy sign...
  • Observer in the nightclub? Not good...
  • Oddly prominent mirror in the snogging scene's background... I'm sensing a motif...
  • Yeah. Looks like a vampire episode!
  • Poor Rach...
  • Setting up a Rach/Peter ship?
  • "Maybe we're looking for Dracula..." "Ha ha! Finally, son, you're opening your mind to new possibilities! But no, there are no vampires, sadly..."
  • "I remember when our suspect being human was a given, not an option."
  • Olivia asks herself: How would Sherlock find a divorce attorney?
    • And Broyles considers- Why would Sherlock look for a divorce attorney?
  • Astrid offhand brings up possibility of Peter getting a girlfriend?
  • Vampire with an STD?
  • Pharmacy guy seems a little too uneasy at the ZFT name.
  • Dog has vampire eyes... suspect's eyes look odd, but I think that's just paranoia.
  • Assuming this guy's dealing in good faith, I still doubt anything fruitful will come from it.
  • "Will I be able to sleep at night again?" "Depends..." "On what?" "If the light is on or not."
  • Greg wants Ella?! NO!
    • Uh- devoted parent, but best not to suggest running away to your sister in the FBI...
  • "I've got to go to... a meeting."
  • I admit, I was suspecting his wife was the Vamp...
  • Oh look, another victim...
  • Why does ZFT want vampires?
  • What's Peter working on?!
  • "I also have a cow!"
  • More friends of Peter's...
  • Vampire rat! I think...
  • Walter's keeping video notes? How mainstream of him.
  • I wanna visit Walter's lab... he has cookies!
  • *breaks out laughing* Of course Walter would have a Clapper in his lab!
  • Astrid does something!
  • IR scanner...
  • Yeah, good chance the guy's gonna bite it now.
    • Seems an excessive amount of fluid, though, even with normal levels.
  • Well, the backseat scare was dealt with quickly.
  • He had a stroke? Maybe they'll let him off with memory loss...
    • Nope. Barring an Or Is It.
    • Oh, but he left a Video Will. Thoughtful.
      • Names? William Bell?
        • Yep. Pretty obvious, though.
  • Annnd looks like the Observer's returning next episode.

Has anyone else noticed the recurrence of the color yellow? The yellow M&Ms Olivia won't eat, Ella's yellow shirt (which she commented on somehow, I forget just how) and then when we see video footage of mini-Olivia, she's wearing yellow.

I haven't noticed the yellow personally.

As for the most recent episode: Haven't finished it yet, but are her hallucinations actually a peering into this alternate universe ZFT claims they are warring against? Edit: Or not.

Finale!

Wait... was that the World Trade Center?

And... Jones can't be eliminated that easily, can he? Unless he really was just an arc villain.

At least we now have very strong evidence that a certain someone is in fact a parallel denizen...

I would say Jones suffered Villain Decay, but really, what did he decay from? He was just kinda there, and to me it's almost an Ass Pull that he was the arc villain. Also, is the name meaningful or not?

OK, I found a teaser for the next season on Hulu... seemed to be the first few minutes of the season, as Peter and Walter were investigating a crashed SUV that seemed to be related to the disappearence of Olivia. Said SUV being the one that she was driving on the way to her meeting- remember, she swerved to dodge another vehicle?

Leading me to conclude that the changeover occurred at that moment, and not in the elevator as I originally thought- the elevator was "just" a teleporter to the WTC. (Amusingly, the glitching effect occurred as the elevator went from floor 14 to 12.)

Watching the premiere. Liveblogette-in-progress (courtesy spoilered):

  • Water tells Peter "as a child, you loved custard"
  • The titles have a new set of technobabble terms.
  • Oh Walter, even while frantic from grief, you're a quotemine- "Life and Death, these are relative terms"
  • Where did that passcode paper come from??
  • Interdimentional typewriter? That's Schizo Tech for ya.
  • The Cow's back!
  • It's a bit weird hearing clairvoyant testimony in hippie-speak...

ed: Anyone else think "red red green" when they entered the hospital basement?

Also called the old romance between Broils and Sharp.

Ass Pull! There was not nearly enough time!

Though given how long they spent in a running sequence only to follow with an anticlimax, you knew something was up offscreen.

Still, no way the basement was that big...

I knew what was going to go down as soon as I saw the incinerator. You see an incinerator onscreen, you know something's getting incinerated.

Looks like it's going to be an interesting season.

There was a new letter in the act-out icons, likely 'W', which would make the secret word for the eppy TOWER The new letter is the inverse of 'V', the sixfinger hand pointing up, star on left.

Okay, latest episode: Fracture. A person suddenly crystallizing and exploding from exposure to a certain radio wavelength (and the crystallization process being reversible with no harm done) makes the scientific part of my brain cry, but damn if it isn't cool (and horrifying).

This does make the Observer a lot more sinister, anyway.

"Deferred Momentum"

So... have we seen that guy at the end before? I'm half-guessing an alt-Bell.

Good to finally see something of the meeting, but it's awfully convenient that dimensional travel causes anything resembling a straightforward explanation of what's going on to break up.

And when will they just out and tell Peter he's from the other side?

This week's episode was kinda flat. The technobabble about stealing dreams was more jarring than usual, and the dialogue about the villain's addiction to dreams becoming a nightmare was Twilight Zone level-cheesey.

Two things I liked:

  • I love the way Olivia thinks. Everything has a manual shutoff.
  • The bit at the end might be leading to the reveal about Peter.
