You mean you couldn't see the cat?
Yikes.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Wow, someone is being random again.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.I see a hemohemoji face :V
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!...I don't see anything. I'll try coloring it if I find the time.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."I can see the "2". It's on the right side and made of 7s, 9s and 3s. I can see some other structures, but nothing that I could identify as number...
[edit]
I think the other one is an "8" overlapping the "2" near the bottom of the picture.

Pour y voir clair, il suffit souvent de changer la direction de son regard www.xkcd.com/386/I see nothing but a mass of numerals. Is the image supposed to be in color?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!""And if you can't see anything, quite frankly, I'm wondering how you're reading this at all."
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...^^ I don't see anything other than a mass of numbers, either, and I know I'm not color blind so it's not anything more than black/white. I think he's just trolling us.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI'm quite sure he's trolling us. The simple fact that it's not in color proves it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I think you missed the part about "Synesthesia".
A well-known form of which is seeing numbers as colored.

Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?I see. Or rather, don't. So since I don't have synesthesia, I'm properly seeing just a mass of black numbers, not anything else.
One wonders if Randall tested this on people who actually have synesthesia.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I thought everyone knew and was just playing along as a joke?
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...I was trying to figure out what the joke was. It took me a bit to realize that if you don't see an image, you are "normal".
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"- About 5 people
Randall sure is underground right now.
The other big number is a "4" on the left side of the image. It's made up of 2's,3's,5's and 7's.
See?

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Where did you get this hypothetical colored version? When I look at that one, I clearly see "42". It looks like the black and white version was colored by a key.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"With the color added there's a big 42.
Ninja'd

So the meaning of life was hidden in this picture. Uh.
Though I am now curious as to how colorblindness and synesthesia interact. You would think a person couldn't see numbers as colors they have no experience with, right?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? You'd see the colors but not necessarily be able to name or identify them. At least, I think. I have no experience with synesthesia.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I colored it myself, assigning a different color to each number, and starting with the numbers that appeared to be the most scattered — 6, 8, 4 and 0. I missed a few, (at least one 4) and didn't do 1, but 2,3,5, and 7 don't appear anywhere outside of the two large numbers.
Whether you would be able to see both large numbers if you have synesthesia and colorblindness would depend of what colors you see the various numbers in, and which variety of colorblindness you have and how those two factors interact.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Now there's an experiment to be made: would different recolorings yield different results?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"How so? The numbers aren't going to move. Using different colors could make the large numbers more or less distinct, depending on how different the colors you used are from each other — using a yellow for "6" and a pale oragne for "3" and a gold for "8" would make both of the large numbers harder to spot, because the sixes and the eights would be visual noise.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Counting the circle as a giant zero!

I am afraid I can only see an arrowhead, a man with a monocle, and a heart.
