No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

I'd say it depends whether you want to follow the path of Tzeentch, or prefer to stay unaligned so you'll hope to unlock Exalted Powers.
The former is the easier solution (less XP cost to raise WP, Unnatural WP when you get the Mark, etc)

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."The Thousand Sons Sorcerer has Unnatural Willpower(+2) at character creation.
Luckily strength D no longer autokills everything hit. It now "just" wounds/penetrates everything on 2+, ignores armour saves and each unsaved wound/penetrating hit counts as D3. Also it's considered s10 for purposes of inflicting instant death. However, if your roll 6 to wound it ignores all saves of eveyr kind and kills nearly anything outright (dealing 6+D6 wounds/hullpoints. That's enough to automatically destroy any non-superheavy vehicle and nearly any non-gargantuan creatures. a Wraithknight might survive with one wound if you roll a 1).
And now you can get that on Wraithguards. Which you can take in squads of 5-10, and can ally with Dark Eldar to deep strike without scatter.
Ah, you meant the actual Tome of Fate archetypes. I haven't actually seen these yet, I was going by the ol' sorcerer template from the rulebook.
Wait, you mean on a 6 it outright ignores invulnerable saves?
Fun Fact: In the French translation for 4E Apocalypse, it was Strenght T, for "titan-killer".

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."I'll be using the Sorcerer archetype from the core rulebook for the fallen Librarian if I pick him.
There's a lot of codexes coming out recently, first Khorne Daemonkin, then Skitarii, then Craftworld Eldar and now Assassins all in the same two months.

I need a new sig.Veeeeery interesting...I've flirted with the idea of having Assassins as allies for a while now. I wonder if there's going to be a new line of Assassin models.
The assassins thing is a board-game. It will have four new assassin models. The opponents are all pre-existing chaos models (terminator lord, chaos marines, cultists).
There is no rumor of an associated codex or anything of the sort. It is likely compliant with the rules that came out around the release of Grey Knights.
The early signs or a new release are starting to show for a Cult Mechanicus release. Rumors peg Electro Priests and robots as appearing.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI have been waiting for Electro-Priests to be released since 2nd Edition so they are definitely something I am interested in.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellOh yeah, I remember seeing something about that on the 40K page on Facebook.
I finished the drop pod yesterday, but haven't had a chance to varnish it. I've learned some valuable lessons from this one that'll go well with the next.
I also got the priming, basecoating, and washing done on my Terminators. Since Warpstone Glow seems to behave better when drybrushing as opposed to normal use, I'm thinking about doing that for the first layer or two and seeing how it turns out...but then, it might be better to build a regular Marine or two and test the technique to see how it does before possibly fething up a Terminator.

There's pictures of this Saturday's (25/4) White Dwarf floating about. Four new Assassins, and the WD includes the rules for them in 40k. The rules are the same as the Dataslate: Officio Assassinorum available from Black Library, but it's handy if you don't have that or want a physical copy.
I know that this isn't the WFB thread but Warhammer Total War finally has a trailer.
I really hope it's good.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I made a sepcefic thread for it just like the other games before.

A small thing, but it's amusing to me that The Vaults of Terra uses our Chaos page pic in their Forces of Chaos overview video (about 13 seconds in).

The new assassin models are cool, though as usual with these things, it's going to be really difficult to find a good reason to put them into my army list. It's hard enough to sneak in the flying potato the Stormtalon as it is...

How boned would my Thousand Sons Sorcerer be if he decided to take up Ahriman's quest to understand the nature of Tzeentch?
Extremely, if he has no success he's probably going to get stuck in ludicrously dangerous situations, if he succeeds Ahriman is probably going to come along and steal his knowledge and if he tries to go after the Black Library like Ahriman he's going to have to deal with the Harlequins.

I need a new sig.Indeed. Even if he has a horde of Rubricae at his disposal I doubt he'd stand a chance.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Excellent, that fits well.
For reference, one of my earlier characters wanted to become a Daemon Prince to get the power to kill a Chaos God.
Also, the other option is trying to fix the Rubric of Ahriman.
Which is equally unlikely.
I think I might paint some of my Ogryns this week. In the fluff for my Guard army, the regiment hails from a planet that is kind of a mix of Scotland and Ireland (some places on the planet are Scottish inspired, some Irish) and my Ogryn, rather than being stupid and super strong abhumans, are just really drunk, boisterous Highlanders.

So, my Thousand Sons Sorcerer is now a robot.
He got the Mechanoid mutation.
Actually, he got the Changing of the Ways mutation, which resulted in the Mechanoid mutation.

... And that does what, exactly? <can't be bothered to check his own copies of the rulebooks right now>
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
I'd go with the Thousand Sons sorcerer, but I'm biased.
Almost finished with the drop pod...final assembly's been a bitch, and I have to reglue the base.
