No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?

Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Yeah, a popular way for a Chaos Cult to start is for it to disguise itself as a reform group or something, but by the time you know what it really is you stopped caring long ago.

I've added some tropes and a pic to Murderfang's entry on the Astartes page...mostly fudged stuff based off his description on GW's page and a rules list I found for him.

I wonder if one of the artists for GW will draw a picture of a bunch of Ultrasmurfs being run through by Tyrannids or Chaos Daemons or something now.

[up][up] The article is quick to point out that it could very much be a case of rats fleeing a sinking ship. Not that the folks leaving GW are rats.

I still think it'd be fine if Ward was allowed to write the rules of every army, assuming that he was actually even-handed at it. Not fluff though, definitely not that.

i think i agree with 1d4chan in this one: matt ward is not a bad author per se, but he really need a editor, he have big ideas but its very blunt about it, hell even 1d4chan have manage to say that yes, ward have a good fluff or two....

funny thing is, that good fluff is about the eldar, the pushing bag of everyone else

Well, aside from the Warhammer Armies: Daemons, which, as the article points out, broke the game.

Grey Knights came pretty close to breaking 5th edition, as I recall. 6th hit them with the nerfbat, 7th made them a little better.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.

That's interesting news...hopefully GW is starting to move in a positive direction.

Can someone take a look at the caption change to the Arbites pic on the Imp factions page? I know diddly about them so I have no idea if it's fitting or not. Also, any thoughts on the Bloodthirster/Khorne mark pic? I've got pics of the other FW greater daemons ready to go, I'd just like to know if that setup is good before proceeding.

Forge World unveil Vulkan, model is unsurprisingly gorgeous

(please do Perturabo next, pretty please)

I also can't help but note that if GW's design team was doing the Primarchs, he'd probably be riding a salamander.

Question.

How likely would it be for a musician to sell his soul to Chaos for unparalleled musical ability?

Why yes, I am thinking of doing the Robert Johnson thing.

It would help if I knew what actually meant but personally I think 'Lex Imperialis, Pax Imperialis'

Or people are starting to abandon the company.

People said the same when Andy Chambers left.

The caption is dog Latin for "Future bad boys bad boys what'cha gonna do, what'cha gonna do when they come for you?" - ie, the theme from COPS.

I'd change it to "EGO LEGIS SUM", which is Latin for "I AM THE LAW!"

[up]Amusing as that is, I think there could be better options. Your one is good.

Edit: Looking at the Arbites entry, what would be the appropriate trope for the Shotgun with homing rounds being their signature weapon? Weapon Of Choice? Shotguns Are Just Better? something else?

I vote for Ach's option, especially since the picture is virtually Dredd all aquila'd up.

As a note, a better translation of "I am the Law" is "Ego lex", or "Lex sum".

Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.

[up][up]

Doesn't "I am X" require the "X" to be genitive case? Also, the Romans used "ego" when referring specifically to oneself alone - a better translation than "ego = I" would be "ego = I alone". "Lex sum" would be more like "I'm of the law", whilst "ego" gives it "I am it literally."
