No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Daemons Inside (dun-duh-dum-duh). Seriously, the Iron Warriors hate mutations and lop off corrupted flesh, but their Possessed canonically use daemon-powered cybernetics to the same effect. They would probably be the biggest converting challenge for a "no flesh" Iron Warriors army, but by no means an insurmountable one.
Current earworm: "Time of Death"My diabolical plan is to not field any Possessed. I figure that puts the whole thing in the "Someone Else's Problem" basket.
That said, I find it somewhat amusing that the Bitz Barn refers to one of the Possessed components as an "Evil Clown Head".
Also, what, as a rough estimate, would you guys say the odds of getting low-quality Finecast would be? I'm looking at this Iron Hands bionic bitz upgrade pack and remembering them being used in an Iron Warriors army in White Dwarf a few years back.
I have had no issues with Finecast. But admittedly, the only Finecast model I bought was the Anniversary model.
Also, no exposed flesh at all? Hell yes. I certainly don't have exposed flesh on any models (except for some Scouts. Future Scout models will be converted to have helmets). Exposed flesh = bad.
Well, I would probably do exposed flesh on any slaves/cultists they brought along, like those random scum that pad out the Chaos side of Dark Vengeance, but the Marines themselves would be inhuman avatars of ruthless, grinding attrition.
You know.
Iron Warriors.
Guys? Anyone? -shrug-
I dunno, they said he wrote some Warhammer adaptations, or some such
Going off his Wikipedia page, I'd say he's at whatever -Con riding on his Doctor Who credentials.
Hmm... guess they dropped the ball on that one, then! o_O;
Or I did. Either's possible.
ACTUALLY, I'm wondering if any of you guys are in a close enough area to go to this convention? It'd be awesome to 'accidentally' meet a fellow troper or three! :D

Hey, it's free! That's cool.
Unfortunately a tad far away.
I don't go to Cons. Mostly because they're all in big cities that are too impractical to get to, plus they'll most likely last for several days, therefore costing me more money than I want to spend on something with the amount of money that I have.
Plus I don't know if I'd be Warhammer-y enough to go. I don't have any Space Marine-related T-shirts or anything XD

Actually, this one is just one day and is more 'general sci-fi' than Warhammer specific. It's also in Falmouth, UK, rather than a big city.
I just posted it here because they said this 'Mark Clapham' guy wrote some Warhammer. but so much for that, apparently. -shrug-
Well in that case I definitely can't go, considering I live in the US.
I wish I could go, but I'm kind of in the wrong hemisphere.
I'd love to have known about this sooner, when I actually lived in the UK. Too bad for me.
Wise Papa Smurf, corrupted by his own power. CAN NO LEADER GO UNTAINTED?!Also live in the wrong country. Never been to a convention of any sort, ought to someday.
Only the sun has stopped.Too bad Perturabo wasn't like Ferrus Mannus.
As an antisocial creep myself, I resent that.
Actually I meant Perturabo not wanting to eventually break his Legion of their "The flesh is weak!" stance but oh well
I'd blame it on all the trench/siege warfare he and his legion had to put up with.
Given what happens if you accumulate too many mutations, you can hardly blame the Iron Warriors for cutting them off.
Okay, so a thought occurred to me... what would happen if the Nids ate a Tau Ethereal? They could theoretically start churning out a handful of creatures capable of pacifying/crippling the entire Tau Empire (or at least the biggest, most unifying chunk of it, AKA the Tau themselves).
The Tau would probably have to work out a way to block out those pheromones, which could have an interesting effect on their society.
The pheromones don't outright mind control them; they just influence the lower castes to be more obedient and less emotional. If there were other Ethereals in the area and they knew the Tyranids were attacking the worse they would see would be some soldiers feeling a bit uncomfortable.
Now if genestealers get the trait... things get interesting.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
To the guy that was taking "Iron Within, Iron Without" to a whole new level, I wouldn't think cybernetics would be compatible with Warp magic.
