No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?

Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

[up] You're talking as though Chaos is dumb. I would assume Ahriman would at least rather have Rubric Marines in his area than starcannon fire in his ribcage.

Also, Ahriman is a Bad Guy. And what's one thing no self-respecting Bad Guy can do without?

An evil lair? Nope.

An opera cloak? Nope again.

A collection of Barbie dolls? Man what

Loyal yet expendable minions? DING DING DING

In other news, Ahriman is searching for the entrance to the Black Library to recover his barbie dolls. The harlequins stole them from Prospero 10,000 years before.

We're not sure why they released a Barbie doll for each Chaos god, but the fact remains that they did.

Berserk Slaughterer Barbie, Sex-Crazed Drug Addict Barbie, Rotting Barbie With Decay-Fu Limb Fall Off Action, and Tentacle Mutant With Wings Of Fire And Squid Barbie.

Plus there's the fact that while Tzeentchian followers are counter-productive, they're by no means stupid.

Berserk Slaughterer Barbie, Sex-Crazed Drug Addict Barbie

You know, while the other two sound kind of boring, these I'd actually want to see.

I dunno, I'd be interested in what "wings of fire and squid" would look like.

Well, they look like normal wings, only the feathers are tentacles, and the whole assemblage is on fire.

Lemme guess. They're "counter-productive" because they keep trying to out-plot and screw over each other all the time just to gain Tzeentch's favor.

I got all the Dark Vengeance HQ Characters recently.

And did nothing with them, because Borderlands 2. And now X-Com.

Soon though! Actually I'm giving the Chaos Lord to a friend, and I don't know what to do with the others (Chaplain looks easy to make generic, Librarian too, Captain will take more work).

I'm thinking of getting back into the game once I have an income and some more free time (i.e. after Basic Training). I've done Space Marines for so long that I would be willing to try something a little different (though I'm by no means tired of Marines; I tried almost every other army in 40k before settling on them. A lot of wasted money.) Is there any word of Imperial Guard in the pipeline, or would it be safe to start collecting them now?

So I had a dumb idea.

A friend is going to try and get his hands on Dark Vengeance, and is willing to split it with me - he's getting bored of his Chaos army, so he'll take the Dark Angels, and I'd take the Chaos guys. And, being a huge Iron Warriors fanboy, I'd of course try to raise the models within according to the creed of Perturabo.

The dumb idea is: an entire army without a single millimetre of exposed Space Marine flesh. Everything is encased in steel, a true vision of the faceless industrial warfare that defines the Iron Warriors. Obliterators painted with their exposed "flesh" as twisted steel and verdigris brass. Nothing but iron without.

Is it as dumb as I think it is? Y/N

Edit: I know that some of the models in Dark Vengeance have exposed meaty bits. That's not important; this is a long-term plan.

So I made a page for 40k's expanded universe and put everything that came to mind on it.

Anyone care to help this out some more?
