No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?

Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

[up] the only problem with Malcador is that he's kind of dead. That sort of thing usually puts you out of the running.

The comparison is based on relative power compared to the Emperor, who is also dead, so I don't see why it should in this case.

[up]he is not quite dead, which is what matter here.

Don't forget the page we're referring to is the Astartes page. So anyone who isn't a loyalist Space Marine (including Primarchs and such) should be automatically out.

I thought of that same Calgar picture. I think it'll work out fine.

... And that's called jazz!

[up] "Only the Emperor himself surpasses [Tigurius]" is not a sentence that, in isolation or in context, implies "with the exception of a bunch of dead guys and Chaos Marines, all of whom make him look kind of like a wuss". It is, in fact, a pretty absolute (and incorrect) statement: there's the Emperor, and then there's Tigurius, and then there's literally everyone else in the setting.

If its goal is to say "Tigurius is one of the most powerful psykers among the loyal Astartes" it can do that without actually making flagrantly inaccurate comparisons. It might be better worded as, for example, "Tigurius is one of the most powerful psykers among the loyal Astartes".

One could also say "He is widely considered one of the most powerful living psykers in the Imperium second only to the Emperor himself." instead. That would of course leave out the likes of Eldrad, Ahriman, and Magnus.

That would also work, yeah. Point is, something that actually expresses the limits of the comparison being made rather than "pay no attention to the nigh-omnipotent daemon primarch behind the curtain".

The other issue is, Tigrus DEFINITELY has some stiff competition from, say, Mephiston?

[up][up]well that was because a that point the primarch were non entity in the fluff, more background noise than anything else.

For what I get, mephiston is not liked by.....everyone really, whatever happen that make him what it is, it really sour whatever interaction it have with others.

The pic of Calgar on his throne works fine for me for the new page.

I've added the Deathwing, Ravenwing, Sanguinary Guard, and Death Company to the chapters page; feel free to soup them up as needed.

I mean, Mephiston isn't as well known for his psychic talents as he is for being able to RIP AND TEAR, with a minor in making heads explode with his brain.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.

I added the Calgar pic but I am unsure if it is a bit big. I also rewrote Tigurius' The Archmage entry to be a little less hyperbolicsmile

[up] That size is fine...I just checked it on my laptop and it's just the right size to not push Azrael's pic down in its folder. Now, that said, I didn't look at it on a larger widescreen monitor so that may change.

I do wonder which 41st millennium Chapter Robby G gets along with the best.

Because I question if it's the Smurfs.

[up] Maybe the Blood Angels? Roboute did respect their Primarch Sanguinius enough to make him the Emperor of the Imperium Secundus.

While I think Roboute still gets along with his Ultrasmurfs, he is probably disappointed with the way they treated his Codex Astartes as a holy text writ in stone as opposed to a set of guidelines.

Chapter Tactics from the new Codex are floating around the net now:

Imperial Fists: No cover bonus for enemies and re-roll wounds against buildings.

Black Templars: Re-roll failed charges.

Salamanders: Re-roll 1 hit and wound roll each turn.

Iron Hands: Ignore a wound on a D6 roll of a 6.

White Scars: Move an extra 2" when advancing and can charge in the same turn they Fell Back.

Raven Guard: -1 on enemy rolls to hit over 12" away.

EDIT: Forgot the Ultramarines: +1 Ld and can shoot on the same turn they fall back.

is it just me.... or do some of those kinda suck? I thought last editions tactics for Salamanders (re-rollable to wound and pen for heat based weapons, and a 4+ FNP against flame weapons) were much better than these, and comapred to the others the Raven Guard's just seem straight OP

[up]Iron Hands seem to have dropped from top shelf to middle of the heap, replaced by the previously mediocre Raven Guard. Otherwise, those tactics do not project to change much in relative power scale or popularity of chapters.

Ultramarines: the codex astartes do NOT suport this action!

Roboute: really....you are tell me this.....to me?

Also it seen roboute have not love for primaris, calling him mongrel horde of cawl....that is after figuring out the emperor never love him or any of is brothers....

like father.....

[up] Yep, "Cawl's blasphemous hordes" he called'em.

Ironically, poor Calgar is all jealous and "stop ignoring me dad!" since Guilliman keeps using the Primaris Marines instead of the Ultramarines for the really tough shit.
