Bob Dylan - "Subterranean Homesick Blues" (Classic one right here. His first released tune in the Folk Rock vein, Dylan shows here just how much of a part he played in the 60s Folk Rock explosion- along with The Byrds and Simon & Garfunkel, he pretty much invented the genre. In fact, he did more than the other two on that front when you take into account the fact that The Byrds got big covering "Mr. Tambourine Man". This one's got several great guitar parts, a great beat and some sweet solos to recommend it- Dylan's comfortable with this whole Rock thing right off the bat. Not surprising, when you consider he actually played in Rock & Roll bands when he was younger... And, of course, his lyrics and the images they present are practically beyond fault. This, along with its accompanying album- Bringing It All Back Home- and the two albums after it- Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde- pretty much epitomize Folk Rock. Essential. )
