This little theory of mine is both Squick and Nightmare fuel. Early in the game Illia Link’s childhood friend is adducted by bublins/moblins. When you finally rescue her she doesn’t remeber anything! Renado the shaman of Kakariko Village believes that Illia's memory loss stems from some trauma that she suffered at the hands of bublins?

Now hears where things start to get Squick, the bublins also kidnapped Malo Talo and Beth three children from Ordon Village however unlike Illia aside from being a little shaken up there just fine. The Bublins did something to Illia that they did not do to the children! And that something to took my thoughts to a dark conclusion. What could happen to a woman that was so horrible and traumatic that her only means of cooping was to erase her own memories?

The answer is Rape.

So what does this mean when you restore those memories...?

How — and when — do you tell a philosophy it's adopted? What do you do when it wants to meet its birth adherents?

I always assumed it was just from, you know, being shot with an arrow.

Yeah. Except the arrow was aimed at her uterus.

Maybe she keeps her memories there in liquid form or something.

i think it's been stated that ganon's minions don't reproduce.. they're like, formed from dark energy or something (that makes it OK to kill them...) so would bulblins even know what sex is?

hey, maybe this was intentional, and just part of nintendo trying to make Twilight Princess darker and edgier

Word of God states that the arrow Ilia was shot with was poisoned, and that this was the reason for the amnesia.

I wonder why they bothered to take Ilia to a doctor...when they are EVIL and had no reason to...

^Why the bulblins even let the kids go makes no sense. I mean, I would have bought it if, say, the villagers ambushed the bulbins or something and saved the kids, but no, the bulbins just dropped the kids off in the woods. It's like, why bother with the kidnapping in the first place?

So, then, that when that elderly woman said about the amnesia was due to trauma from the bulbins, she was really meaning the arrow? I dunno...it does sound like she was implying something else.

Mm~~ def. sounds like Wild Mass Guessing to me.

I say a rescue mission invoving the children would have been satisfying.

Above all, always remember to stay positive.

Well Illia was pretty damn fine.

I love how this thread leads up to this conclusion as if it's a huge deal when anyone with a bit of a dirty mind probably considered this long ago.

You know, I do believe I saw a picture about that once. <_< >_> >_<

Really, I didn't think about it on my first play through but after that, I had always thought it was rape. It makes sense and makes the game come close to Majora's Mask level of darkness.

However, the arrow would explain the lack of trauma after her memories are restored and rape doesn't seem like something Nintendo would do.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!
