A Tenth Doctor themed punching bag?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI want to buy one of those.
Marketing opportunity, methinks.
Then there may be an opportunity for a badge or T-shirt that reads "I browse the TV Tropes Forum and still like Ten"
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.No because then we just become the punchings bags for this lot.
What did I just stumble into?! I saw two Tenth Doctor reruns this morning. One of them was School Reunion. I miss Sarah Jane.
At least we still have good old K-9!
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."Yeah, Pearl not being the main character helps with the acknowledging-serious-flaws thing.
He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space. So I am going to be away from my computer for a few days, and my phone can't access IRC chat.
So.
Sorry.

And I am now distancing myself from the Doctor Who fandom for a long time. So long, Whovians!
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."What happened?
Fresh-eyed movie blogunnoun also wants to know.
It's been hours and there is some news.
Salon articles have links that are too long.
...Also, the title for the article is the most blatant instance of taking things out of context I've seen outside of politics.
I wonder how often him putting his foot in his mouth is that and how often it's journalists being collossal jerks.
Any guesses? Eruditorum Guy? Emeriin? Musik? Eagal? Medicus? Anyone?

I'm not sure. I mean, we have double the female writers any previous season has had, which is still 2, but that's better than 1 or 0. I'm not saying that's good representation, but it at least shows that he's trying.
I think that there are also a few female directors this season which is nice.
What happened, you asked?
I have fallen in love with spy shows again. Sayonara!
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."Moffat tries. And while I'd never say that should be enough to earn anyone's unconditional support, I think context matters as well. And it certaintly doesn't justify the whole "Doctor Who was great until that sexist jerk Moffat came around"
Because, no. Moffat is the least sexist creator Doctor Who has had in a pretty long time. He may still have sexist ideals, but don't pretend the show was perfect before him, and that anyone in recent memory has tried harder than he has (which, again, it's fair if you don't think that's hard enough)
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."...You could stay here and watch Pertwee.

I'm pretty sure I've said it before, but I've come to see the Pertwee years as less like James Bond like everyone says, and more like (Not-Marvel's) The Avengers. Kind of a spy-flavored Agency-oriented thing that has an addiction to campy sci-fi.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWasn't Jo originally conceived as an Emma Peel Expy?

Oh God! Natural light!Wasn't the Pertwee-era an attempt (at least initially) of Follow the Leader? The Avengers was super popular back in the day.
It was quite fun when an episode of The Avengers featured Jon Pertwee as a war veteran who ends up killed by false Venusians.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.That, sir, is a slur against Venusian! We...I mean they would never resort to murder! We...they...
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty. And suddenly we're talking about Jon Pertwee! Well I do think of the spy-fi genre when we're talking Pertwee.
Basically during his era, I guess I could say Doctor Who turned into a sci-fi version of The Avengers! (non-Marvel)
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."I think three's era was designed as some sort of contrast against the outdated optimistic SF of the sixties, and to save money. That kind of genre of military-ish SF set in the modern day seems like it was pretty popular in the early seventies, particularly in britain. There's the avengers, UFO, thunderbirds etc...
Does anyone know if it was as popular in america?
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonFrom what I can tell, as a genre in America, military sci-fi seems to have been more of an 80's thing. Of course, I'm not that familiar with the history of the genre, particularly as far as the 70's go, so I could be wrong.
Oh God! Natural light! The episodes of The Avengers that I saw were sci-fi. I'm pretty sure they were all in color, so probably the New Avengers.

I sorta almost feel like Ten gets the Draco in Leather Pants treatment by his own fucking show.
A character being problematic isn't necessarily problematic in and of itself.
Making a problematic character and having speeches like

...Oh god I want to hit things.
