This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

Serini was a fun addition to play on that in a new light without ruining the joke of wondering exactly that.
Mostly does better things now. Key word mostly. Writes things, but you'll never find them. Or you can ask.Weird at the start it seemed as if Belkar was an aberration and most halfings were more stereotypical. (Hence his shoulder angel) but Serini is more like him and he compares her to his granma.
But young scribble Serini was more cheerful and bubbly so... who knows.
There was also the rogue halfling in the Thieves' Guild.
Small sample size, but maybe all the happy halflings don't go out adventuring...
Edit: Yeah, that's what I was thinking of.

Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Belkar is extremely cheerful when he gets to stab people.
That was the way it worked in Lord of the Rings. All the hobbit characters were considered weirdos for leaving.
Do we know how old Belkar is? Halfling ageing is vague enough as is, sometimes. They usually age pretty well.
Secret SignatureI don't remember if we've been given an official age for Belkar. I do remember that we've been given official confirmation that all the party members are in the same general age category. So Belkar's age will be the Halfling equivalent of a human in their twenties.
...Durkon is a young man?
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Yeah he's just matured earlier because of what he's been through I imagine.
Secret SignatureSome people just bald early.
According to the wiki he's been bald since 15. (He said he's been bald for 40 years when Haley got her hair back. Not sure when it was established he was 55. Maybe one of the book's intros.
eta: Interesting. The Intros in No Clue for the Paladin Blues gives the following ages: Roy - 28, Elan - 21, Haley - 24, Durkon - 39, Belkar - ?? and Vaarsuvius, 130?.

Durkon tells his age to the guy manning the entrance to the city earlier in the book from his "bald for 40 years" line.
I just checked, and you're right! He says right here that he's fifty-five.
, Cheers. Thanks for the reference.
Either Rich retconned the book or they've been adventuring for 16 years!

If the intro to one of the books disagrees with things said on-panel in the online strip, it's probably the intro that should be considered incorrect.
I think the running joke about hobbits is funnier if we don't know whether they're all like Belkar, or just his extended family.
