This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

My theory is that even the Gods couldn't bother with the Vancian casting rules normal clerics use.
Borked or not, being able to see stuff nobody else can by invoking a goddess puts you in "able to divine stuff" territory.

But not a divine caster. Because he doesn't follow the rules of casting spells. He doesn't advance in his capacity of future seeing or anything like that.
He just has a SLA to invoke prophecies.
Correct. His class is Expert, which is an NPC class defined in the core rules. It lets him choose a set of class skills and that's about it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Interestingly enough, Knowledge (Religion) isn't normally a class skill for Favored Souls. They get Knowledge (Arcana) instead.
Rhymes with "Protracted."What's really funny is that Favored Souls are mechanically weaker than Clerics.
They're spontaneous, which limits the spells they can know and they cast off two stats instead of one.
A Cleric can tailor their requested spells to suit any need. A Favored Soul gets what they get and if that's not good enough, then they'll just have to die painfully.
Which is why I think all the parody sue jokes are weird.
Also fun fact: A Cleric's god can not give them spells anymore, but they can't easily take them away once the Cleric has them. A spell in your noggin stays there until expended.
Why do they make Favored Souls casters off two attributes. Everything else you just said is true of Sorcerors.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Sorcerers are also weaker than Clerics.
90% of the character classes in the game are weaker than Clerics.
They're god eating, mountain punching, kajiu slapping demigods.
But that's a subject for another thread.
Fiiiiiine. You guys are fun.

Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWow. That is both unnecessary and fully unfunny. That meme was old when this series started.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.1. Not cool faking a link. 2. It's 2015. Get over it already.

A rickroll.
Now I'd really like to find that Dork Tower page about "rickrolling is so (date)", but I can't find it...

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Hah. I suspected it would be.
By this point, it became a joke of a joke of itself.
Rickrolling's wrapped around to being kinda funny, in the proper context.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.The best rickroll is the one where you know goddamn well it's gonna be a rickroll, but there's like a 5% chance that it's not, and you have to make sure.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers. And then there's the un-rickroll, where a supposed link to Never Gonna Give You Up leads to something relevant to the discussion.
Or if it leads to the rickroll vid where the music is reversed
ophelia, you're breaking my heartI once got rickrolled by a youtube suggestion link. The video poster had cleverly added one single panel of some other thing (I think it was an episode of Bleach) and I clicked it and was disappointed in myself.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youDoes anyone here read anti-HEROES (a webcomic inspired by Order of the Stick and using the same style) as the most recent update had an unexpected cameo
Huh, interesting cameo, but not surprising. I don't find anti-HEROES funny though, so I kind of stopped reading it awhile ago.
Caught up with it at one point, didn't hold my interest.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%....
What rickroll ?
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreThe poster has since taken it down, but there was a link to what they claimed was a new comic, and was really good old Rick Astley.

He didn't show any capacity to cast though. He only used a wand and a proper divine caster wouldn't need one to get rid of a ghost.
Not everything has to be a class. He got a unique plot power and that's it.
