It's always a pleasure to watch an expert doing what she's great at.

[up]Eh. I'd of course prefer Bang to win, but maybe the Foglios could have had this guy put up a little bit more of a fight. At least try to blink away...

[down]Yeah, possibly...

[up]I think one of those "argh" moments was him trying to start a blink... and Bang quite literally nailing him in place. It's hard to concentrate on coordinates when you're being sliced and diced.

Bang vs. Zeetha looks like a very frightening fight now.

Bang is having a lot of fun.

I guess Gil doesn't let her commit mass murder as often as she used to so she is savoring every moment.

I'm impressed by how strong she actually is. The guy is supposed to be a top tier smoke knight and she is no-selling him. I guess he is only good when he has stealth.

[up][up] Since I would assume Zeetha is weaker than this smoke knight, I don't see the appeal. She needs some lessons from Higgs before it'll be interesting.

(Note: timeskip means she might've had that, but until it is mentioned, I assume they've talked about other things)

Higgs and Zeetha probably talked about a lot of things. tongueevil grin

This page has me cracking up. [lol][lol][lol][lol][lol]

Gil: "Wait for it..." [lol][lol][lol][lol]

I think sneaky guy can't pop because Bang's slicing and clobbering has stopped the pop. Teleporting beyond the very instinctive level tends to require some concentration, and you really, really don't want to just pop wherever on a freaking zepplin above the ocean.

Edit: Anyone else think it's adorable that the first thing Gil does is patch up Tarvek?

The one thingwild mass guess that Gil does not have an antidote to and that Bang is not already immune to.

What? She's a pirate captain who forcibly and bloodily shattered the Wulfenbach Navy's glass ceiling. Building immunity is a sensible precaution.

I'll hedge my bets and say it's something that she has partial immunity to, but still weakens her. That way, we can say that Bang had the flu for any subsequent beatdowns.

[up][up] I don't believe any immunity to poison that she has is due to any precautions on her part. More like "that which doesn't kill me"...

[down] Will completely agree that Gil and Klaus would do that to her. They take precautions.

[up]On Bang's part, no. Gil, on the other hand, probably force-feeds her every antidote he can get his hands on, as he did with the anti-wasping formula.

That said, I will be somewhat surprised if the Foglios have the blade be poisoned.

[up][up]It's a Smoke Knight. I assume anything sharp in their possession is poisoned unless shown otherwise. waii

Candi just outlined my thought processes. Heck, it's suggested that Violetta, who's the nicest Smoke Night we've seen, does so too (when Tarvek thinks she's talking crazy, he accuses her of licking her knives... again). The only time I wouldn't assume that their blades are poisoned is if they literally just picked up someone else's weapon to use. And even then, I wouldn't rule it out.

[up]Sure, but on the other hand, having the characters always check for poison slows the plot down and gets tedious after a while. So I don't expect much more than an gil saying offhand "don't forget to take an antidote", or Bang pouring something on her injuries in the background etc.

"Night Master" is not automatically the same thing as "Smoke Knight."

Maybe, but what kind of "chief assassin" doesn't use poison?

Also, if Tarvek went through the smoke night training, it's fair to expect that other people who aren't "smoke night" propers did too, unless, it's really a family thing.

To me "night master" sounds like a kind of smoke night Prestige Class.

Prestige Class, or a title he was given by others due to his skills. Or an existing title that can only be earned through a bunch of people agreeing he deserves it. ("Sir" in Thin Edge by Randall Garrett comes to mind.) It could be something he made up.

The important part is it's mildly scary, and obviously well known.

My assumption is wild mass guessthat basic Smoke Knight training is essential to surviving among the Sturmvarous and cadet branches.

[up]No, it's made pretty clear it's an established class of some sort- at one point one of the redshirts on the airship says something along the lines of "that's not just any Night Master, that's Jaron!"

Also, a reminder that, if not for the frankly ridiculous political situation that they were forced into, these two would still be best of friends.
