I more meant that the court may not even know what happened because A) "Jeanne WHO?" and/or B) "That shouldn't be possible"
"Coffee! Coffeecoffeecoffee! Coffee! Not as strong as Meth-amphetamine, but it lets you keep your teeth!"Which could potentially exacerbate whatever Nice Job Breaking It, Hero consequences that come up, if for whatever reason Jeann was bound for a specific purpose that not even the modern court knows about (and thus might not have a way to handle if that purpose is to defend against something hostile to them).
Things are getting so tense. Hurry Annie!
Also, those strings apparently rebuild. Interesting. Unfortunately, that makes him a target.

Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Are the afterimages etheric in nature? If not, I'm imagining Parley actually using that as part of some plan to catch Jeanne off guard again.
charles stiles mystery dinersHm, looking back at a previous strip, what effect do you think taking the sword from Jean's corpse would have on the battle?
Is this... a trap?
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Best way to fight a teleporter, control where they teleport
Hmm... we never got too much into the specifics of how Parley's teleportation works before. Seems like someone is figuring it out at the worst possible time for her.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Because I know something you do not know.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise."Congratulations, you made me have to use my second sword"
"Coffee! Coffeecoffeecoffee! Coffee! Not as strong as Meth-amphetamine, but it lets you keep your teeth!"How gauche.
... okay no, my real comment is "Ohhhhhh dear."
Well. That happened. Here's hoping this comic doesn't suddenly starting heading into Anyone Can Die territory...
Smitty! NOOOOOOOOOO
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI don't wanna, like, anti-jinx it, but I don't think he's actually injured... The angle we're seeing the attack in was probably chosen deliberately. If we could actually see the sword penetrate his body and blood spilling out, I'd believe it, but this way, I think there's going to be something to save him... That said, there's been so many lucky twists like that throughout this chapter, I also can't shake the feeling that it's building up to something awful...
Yeah, I'm betting he's fine.
Smitty's powers retroactively make it so he is stabbed in a nonfatal place.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️I think the moral of this arc is "don't try to fix things you clearly don't understand". Like, has anyone thought that maybe this whole plan happened for a reason despite Diego's jealousy? Always better than to let things slide than getting involved and having them blow up in your face, I say.
Or if they were really so determined to make Jeanne pass on, they should have dug deeper, done more research into what was going on. Going into a fight with a half-assed plan and no idea what would happen even if you win isn't exactly a sterling idea.
Aw, man. Gosh.
Yeah, back on the anti-jinxing front, if anybody's got an excuse for a Pocket Protector, it's Smitty.
...Fingers crossed,

I'm just curious how justified the original Court was in making the river impassable. They weren't ethical about it at all, but it might have been more than paranoia that drove them. What if the way the Heroes Break it isn't in their methods, but in their objective?
