• Awesome Music: The orchestral score by Bill Conti. Some sections could be inserted into a dramatic film and not miss a beat.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Lt. Bagley grabbed by a random, unseen anaconda and the out-of-nowhere slinky going down the stairs during Ryan and Laughrea's fight.
• Once Original, Now Overdone: At the time, it was actually part of the joke that the film cast such a wide net in the material that it parodied. Nowadays, every parody movie is like that (the Seltzer and Friedberg movies in particular gained infamy for it), and the worse for it.
• Special Effect Failure: Done deliberately in the bus crash scene. Instead of a realistic tumble down the hill, the bus bounces around like a pinball (complete with pinball machine sound effects) multiple times before finally landing.
