YMMV / Will Ospreay

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • "Elevated" by It Lives, It Breathes.
    • It was temporarily replaced by the dubbed song "Untouchable You" by Sightless in Shadow when there was legal trouble. Broken Base on whether "Untouchable You" is actually better than "Elevated".
    • His Faceā€“Heel Turn replaced "Elevated" with "Bring it Down" by Yonosuke Kitamura and Eiki. In-universe, The Great O-Kharn dances to it during his entrances.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Ospreay and Bea Priestley broke up in real life a few months after Will kicked her to the curb on screen in NJPW.
  • Memetic Mutation: The "Jojo Flip" he pulled off in a match against Kota Ibushi, where he managed to No-Sell getting thrown from the top rope and land perfectly on his feet.
  • Never Live It Down:
    • Inside the ring, the two incidents of landing directly on his head during bumps. After the second one, he started transitioning into a power based moveset to extend his career.
    • Outside the ring, Will's apparent role in forcing Pollyanna out of British Wrestling by asking venues to not book her after various disagreements with the Swords of Essexnote . He denied this for years, though a promoter eventually seemingly confirmed Polly's story. This caused both Will and NJPW no small hint of grief, as many were canceling their "NJPW World" subscriptions to try to get them to fire Ospreay. Months later, when the suicide of another English wrestler was turned into another Ospreay related controversy after he tweeted a thread which can be summed up as "stop trying to get me fired or I'll kill myself too", the promoter had to recant their stance by clarifying that the venue were the ones who asked them to cancel Pollyanna, and changing their tune from "fuck you Ospreay" to "no mistake warrants constant hate."
      • This one came back around in 2023 when Ospreay strong armed Progress into bringing back Paul Robinson, who'd been part of his own misconduct allegations. Ospreay tweeted at them that he'd be willing to come back to Progress if they let Paul come back, which was shortly followed by an announcement that Progress had "cleared Paul of any wrongdoing" in an investigation.note
  • Obvious Judas: His betrayal of Kazuchika Okada had been coming for even longer than Jay White's had. It just took Bea Priestley to give him the final push.
