YMMV / Who Needs Men?

• Harsher in Hindsight: One sign of the totalitarian Anglian regime's villainy, or at least alienness, as compared to Great Britain at the time of writing, is that they use a currency called the Euro. As of 2019, Britain still retains its Sterling, but the real-life European Union (EU) currency that is called the Euro is also legal tender.
• Evil Is Cool: The Anglian Amazon Brigade military of badass lesbians in cool uniforms. Though the story also subverts this by showing that counterinsurgency and genocide are decidedly not glamorous things.
• Values Dissonance: The portrayal of the feminist state as a horrible totalitarian tyranny and the patriarchal faction as (realistically brutal, but nonetheless) persecuted freedom fighters will probably seem unfortunate to at least some modern readers.
• The Woobie: Cadet Olane. She didn't even want to be in the military, it was something her mother pushed her into. She ends up terribly depressed by the nature of their work and dies on seeing her first real combat.
