YMMV / Wabbit Twouble

Go To

  • Designated Hero: Bugs, who screws with Elmer for no reason than his own amusement, while the poor guy just wants a peaceful camping.
  • Designated Villain: Surprisingly, Elmer. Poor guy just wants some nice west, while Bugs plays cruel jokes on him. And given how he's portrayed in the short, he isn't probably a off-duty hunter on holidays but a normal tourist who had to face the wascally wabbbit.
  • Fan Nickname: "Big Chungus" for Bugs's Temporary Bulk Change.
  • Ho Yay: In jail, Bugs and the bear ask Elmer how long he’s going to be in jail, in a pretty seductive position while nibbling on a carrot.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Fat Bugs Bunny, which has spawned numerous amusing fan nicknames, most prominently "Big Chungus", a meme that was created in 2012 by James Stephanie Sterling, then suddenly exploded in popularity in December 2018. Warner Bros. formally acknowledged the Big Chungus character when it was included in the mobile game Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem in April 2021.
    • Taking images of the fat Bugs Bunny and making fake video game box art out of them.
    • “Pardon me, but how long you in for, doc?”
    • "THAT'LL HOLD 'IM ALWIGHT! UHUHUHUHUHUHUHUH"
      • "phooey"
    • Bugs (pretending to be a bear) roaring at a smiling, red-faced Elmer.
  • Older Than They Think: Years before Big Chungus became a meme, the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Vol. 2 Blu-ray provided a hint of him gaining Internet fame; the insert notes that Wabbit Twouble made it into the collection after winning an online poll.
  • Signature Scene: The Big Chungus scene.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: This was the first short in which Elmer Fudd was redesigned from his original trim figure to one noticeably more heavyset (reportedly to look more like his voice actor Arthur Q. Bryan, on the right). As evidenced by the fact that only three others exist with him looking this way (two of which were Friz Freleng cartoonsnote ), nobody liked it, and Elmer's been back to his original design ever since. Ironically however, this temporary redesign wound up retroactively giving the world Big Chungus.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Elmer Fudd this time. Poor guy just wants to relax in a beautiful place while Bugs pranks him for no reason. The ending where he ends in prison for vandalizing the park sign doesn't help.
  • Watch It for the Meme: After 2018, a lot of people have done this to the point where Warner Bros. themselves posted the short on their YouTube channel with Big Chungus on the thumbnail. There was even a poll asking viewers if they came to the video for that scene (later removed due to it being considered a kids video).
