YMMV / Vampire: The Masquerade — Night Road

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Is Lettow a caring and just ruler (as much as a Gangrel Prince can be) or is he a manipulative entitled bastard stuck in centuries past?
    • Is Julian insane with his plan for a Broken Masquerade or is his the only way forward with technological advances going the way they are?
    • If you romance Lettow: is he in love with you, or the few remnants of Aila that still linger in you? For that matter, it goes the other way too: how much are your feelings for him influenced by her?
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Elena, an undocumented immigrant, impersonating a racist in order to get with some local Neo-Nazis? Dramatic. Elena dressing up as Neil Patrick Harris' character in Starship Troopers to get with some Russian Neo-Nazis? Hilarious.
  • Heartwarming Moments: If your romance with Julian has progressed far enough by the time you go after Reremouse, during the part of the mission where you spend the day in a motel you'll wake up around noon to find he got out of his own bed to come sleep with you. (He's not exactly the best boyfriend, but still, it's cute.)
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: In this instance it almost certainly is political, especially with how often it's asserted that the humans created vile conditions and situations, and the vampires just profit from them.
    • Your earliest job is to lead undocumented immigrants to the lair of an ancient vampire so he can feed on them.
    • One of the major parts of the game is dealing with a migrant camp that Kindred have set up to feed on workers. The operation is about to shut down because the government has made feeding on internment camps much easier as well as profitable. If you manage to free its inhabitants, the local radio station attempt to portray the escapees as a horde of rapists threatening "white women virtue." To the radio announcer's credit, she refuses to read the news as written.
    • The US healthcare system gets some jabs on the radio when it points out whatever you do to a hospital run by vampires probably will result in the place being shut down or priced out of reach for the poor who frequent it.
    • One location is a government facility built to study what sort of community would form under changing conditions like global warming, aware that this was in fact possible given the proliferation of fossils fuels. It's been abandoned for some time, and the participants in the experiment were totally expendable and treated worse than animals.
