YMMV / Ummagumma

Go To

  • Adaptation Displacement: The four live tracks are often considered superior to their studio versions by fans. Particular note goes to "Careful with That Axe, Eugene"- since the studio version was an obscure B-side, the Ummagumma live take is typically considered the "canon" version of the song.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Even for Pink Floyd, "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" is... pretty strange.
  • Broken Base: The live disc is universally loved by fans. The solo material on the studio disc, however, is pretty divisive. Fans generally agree that "Grantchester Meadows" and "The Narrow Way" are good songs, and "Several Species" has a cult following. The other two pieces are highly debated.
