• Americans Hate Tingle: The OVA was a genuine hit in Japan, creating two sequels, Sleeping and Bathtime, but anime fans in other countries tend to view the OVAs as creepy and generally pointless fanservice vehicles.
• Critic-Proof: Literally every review by any serious anime critic has condemned the series^note most notably, THEM Anime Reviews reviewed all 3 OVAs separately, and all 3 got a 1-star rating, only because the site doesn't have a lower score, yet as noted on the main page, all entries of this franchise sold incredibly well.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: As Japanator noted, a similar concept to Sleeping was seen in a 2004 exhibit in the London National Portrait Gallery that amounted to an hour-long video of David Beckham sleeping, six years before Sleeping was made.
