YMMV / Touhou Kishinjou ~ Double Dealing Character

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: "That's dirty coming in and stealing her from me, sister!".
  • Fan Nickname: Marisa-B has been referred to as Marisa-Broken due to her bomb being overpowered for gathering resources.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Marisa's B type bomb, Magic Absorber, is this due to allowing a player to farm a ridiculous amount of lives if they get the timing down for it and find the right spot. Her broken-ness increases on higher difficulty levels, due to having more material to work with. Much like Marisa-B from Mountain of Faith (albeit for different reasons), she has earned the Fan Nickname of Marisa-Broken.
    • Sakuya-A has a ridiculous spread with her unfocused shot, a powerful focused shot that locks onto her enemies and deals Splash Damage, and a bomb that's effectively a shield similar to the Border in Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom and refunds 3 bomb pieces (out of the 8 that make up a full bomb) if you end up not getting hit while shielded.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Dark Spark. Reimu and Sakuya got brand new bombs from their cursed weapons, but Marisa instead just got a recolored version of Master Spark that works exactly the same as its counterpart, which disappointed fans into the opinion that Marisa was done dirty.
  • Low-Tier Letdown:
    • Sakuya-B is by far considered the worst shot type in the game. Her focused shot is both narrow and very weak, and her bomb is next to useless as it is very short and doesn't even do damage, not to mention using it during Sukuna's penultimate Spell Card desyncs the attack's pattern and causes you to get walled by the resulting danmaku.
    • Marisa-A, while not nearly as bad, isn't very well liked either. Her focused shot is a flamethrower that has limited reach and is only strong at very close range, in a game where getting that close to the bosses is a dangerous proposition, especially in higher difficulties. And her bomb, while not bad, can be disappointing in that Dark Spark works literally just the same as a regular Master Spark, where players might have expected a bit more from a cursed weapon shot type.
  • Sequel Difficulty Drop: Given that the player can earn an indefinite number of extra bombs and lives by making good use of this game's autocollect gimmick, this game is considerably easier than its immediate predecessor and is perhaps the easiest mainline game since Touhou Eiyashou ~ Imperishable Night.
  • Signature Scene:
  • Spiritual Licensee: You could call this game the most popular Shinobu Yagawa game in the West.note
  • That One Attack: Shares a page with the rest of the franchise.
  • That One Boss: It shares a page with the rest of the series.
