YMMV / Total Drama: Battle of the Generations

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: While giving the contestants the rundown of the Samoa challenge, Chef emphasizes the importance they place on family. Dominic Toretto then appears to voice his approval. No one acknowledges his appearance and Chef continues the explanation as if nothing happened.
    • Cody occasionally referencing memes throughout his run also crosses over into this.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • The Author's Notes at the First Aftermath chapter states who they think are the canon winners of the series. The second part of the Island (2023) confirms that Owen is the official winner of the first season.
    • For many of the chapters, Chef acts as the co-host of the season and describes what the challenges will be about. Come the Reboot season in 2023, and that is exactly the role that Chef fills throughout the season.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Dave. While his actions aren't very moral or justified, the harassment he's been through between seasons and being manipulated (albeit briefly) again this season shows how much the guy has been swung around the place since his original debut. It also becomes quite clear that he's having self-esteem issues because of everything the show is throwing at him.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Amy crosses this when she tells Sammy that she wished the latter just died in the womb. This makes Sammy realize that Amy will never change and is Beyond Redemption.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Dave wasn’t really popular in the show due to his whiny personality and his creepy obsession with Sky, which led to his Face–Heel Turn upon learning that she has a boyfriend. However, fans will come to enjoy this villainous version of Dave when he orchestrates the eliminations of two deeply disliked contestants, Amy and Sugar, and continues to commit many more villainous deeds while still remaining a sympathetic character. It also helps that Sky is not competing with Dave this time, allowing Dave to develop more as his own character instead of remaining a Satellite Love Interest.
  • Rooting for the Empire: Once Dave fully embraces his role as the Big Bad, he becomes a much more interesting character while still retaining his sympathetic qualities, with many actually rooting for him to win. It also helps that the first two people opposing Dave are Amy, a Big Sister Bully who wished her sister had died in the womb, and Sugar, a grossly Fat Bitch who basically got away with her actions in Pakitehew Island, both of whom were eliminated by Dave.
  • Squick: Anyone aware of the Better Call Saul episode being referenced in "Friday Night Crackdown's" post-elimination scene will realize that Sugar takes a swig from a bottle of piss.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Some readers have expressed the sentiment that the author's runner up considerations for the returnees, Staci and Josee, would have been more interesting than their choice of Izzy and Jo.
