YMMV / Tomorrowverse

  • Common Knowledge: Johnny Quick is generally seen as the least villainous Syndicate members who has a Hidden Heart of Gold. In fact, he's generally the most evil member in most portrayals. However, the notion comes from this series and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. Between these, this is the 2nd time he does something heroic which includes a last second heroic sacrifice. In Crisis on Two Earth's, he refuses to strand Batman on an alternate Earth and keeps a portal open at the cost of his life while here he allows himself to die so that the Flash can get enough Speedforce to hop dimensions.
  • Complete Monster: See here.
  • Epileptic Trees: A very popular theory is that this series was created by the events of Justice League Dark: Apokolips War when Flash created another Flashpoint. The justification for this is that Man of Tomorrow was the first film released after the conclusion of the DCAMU and some comments from screenwriter Ernie Altbacker that Apokolips War wasn't the actual end and fans would be getting something new. Eventually, they would be proven right in Crisis on Infinite Earths, where the John Constantine and Spectre of that series return, with Constantine filling the role of Pariah.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Since the DCAMU was a Broken Base, some have enjoyed this new shared universe and consider it better than the DCAMU. However, many DCAMU fans complain that their shared universe was cut short and feel that it had more good qualities than Tomorrowverse fans give it credit.
  • Fan Nickname: Has not been given an official name, though fans were quick to call it the Tomorrowverse. However it has also been called the "DC Animated Rebirth Universe".
  • Improved Second Attempt: This is DC's second attempt to create a Shared Universe with their Direct-to-DVD line of animated films, and the Tomorrowverse quicky attempts to avert some of the criticisms people had with the DCAMU.
    • The DCAMU was controversial for heavily adapting the Darker and Edgier New 52 comics, which were largely considered a Broken Base amongst DC fans. While the DCAMU eventually moved on from its original source material, many felt it was too late, so many have welcomed this new Lighter and Softer animated movie universe due to taking inspiration from more popular eras of DC's history in regards to stories and tone.
    • The DCAMU was also criticized for the over use of Batman in its films, with the character appearing in twelve out of the sixteen films while also having four solo films. The Tomorrowverse has so far used him more sparingly such as in the two-part adaption of The Long Halloween and a minor role in Legion of Super-Heroes, satisfying fans of the character as well as those who are tired of Batman being a Spotlight-Stealing Squad.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A common complaint about this universe is the feeling that it's being rushed and skipping over many plot points, especially in regards to the Justice League. Many found it jarring that after the World War II and The Long Halloween hinted towards it being formed, Beware My Power had the Justice League with the Watchtower and having been active for some time.
