  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Justin Sanderson The Cassandra, doomed to fail to avert a plane crash because no one would listen to his warnings? Or is he a Glory Seeker Idiot Hero who endangered everyone with his antics, creating an accident that would have never happened if he had simply followed the flight crew's orders?
  • Ending Fatigue: The coda on the island is completely pointless, only serving to pound in a message that was already perfectly clear even further in.
  • Narm: The revelation that Joe Beaumont was the pilot that crashed the plane is accompanied not only by Lyrical Dissonance "Fly Me to the Moon", but Justin's subdued comment "Oh shit. He's the pilot."
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Justin may fall into this.
    • The crash wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Justin, and that had the passengers stranded for months, with no means of communication with the rest of the world, before eventually being saved. It still doesn't justify the murder and the cover-up, but they had absolutely no reason to be grateful to him.
    • There is also the fact that for all they know he was in league with the hijacker as he was seen talking to him moments before he entered the cockpit, plus all the shady-looking things he was doing before hand. Plus, even if they did know the whole truth, he could still be considered to have a large part of the blame for the crash as he followed the voice of a podcast seemingly because he wanted to be a hero.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?:
    • Justin implicitly trusts his fellow straight-laced white man over the various minorities among the passengers, never once considering him among the suspects for crashing the plane until it’s too late.
    • A point is also made on judgement coming based on your actions and their consequences, and not just your intentions.
