YMMV / The Severing Crime Edge

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When Violet kisses Kiri does she do it because she has developed feelings for him or she just wanted to get on his nerves?
  • Les Yay: Loads of it between the Byoinzaka twins whenever the Author sister needs to relieve herself of her desire to use Injection of Coma Death.
  • Moe: Iwai is an adorably petite girl with Cute Little Fangs, beautiful long hair and big blue eyes. It's hard for people to not feel an urge to hug and protect her.
    • Also, her stepsister Emily Redhands.
  • Narm:
    • SO much in episode 6, it's not even funny. Iwai repeatedly being called a monster simply because her hair can't be cut comes off as more silly than dramatic and tragic—especially when coming from someone who's about to kill her.
    • The same goes for all of the drama and emotion that gets poured into the moment that Kiri almost cuts another girl's hair. The amount of drama they put into that would make you think he's about to be violated—WHEN HE'S JUST GOING TO CUT HER HAIR.
  • So Bad, It's Good: The anime adaptation suffers from the usual problems of adapting manga (i.e. the difficulty of making it showing, not telling). On top of it, there is serious lack of directing, resulting in rather sub-par... everything.
  • Squick:
    • The whip author (and her Instead) licking her freaking Killing Good.
    • Kiri nomming Iwai's hair in chapter 18.
    • Kiri's haircut fetish in general comes across as this, especially to those with the fairly common fear of getting their hair cut or seeing others get their hair cut.
    • Many of the more gratuitous injuries Kiri inflicts using the Crime Edge of Cutting and Severing.
      • Nearly maiming Byouinzaka's hand when she almost kills Iwai.
      • Giving another Author's Instead half of a Glasgow Grin. Yikes.
  • The Woobie: Iwai and Emily.
