  • Adorkable: Marianne has moments of this, such as joking about bolt cutters being a potential movie character.
  • Awesome Art: One of the things people love so much about the game is its world-design, many comparing it to the works of Zdzisław Beksiński.
  • Awesome Music: With Bloober's regular Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill cooperating on the music, it's no wonder the complete product is a stunning, moody soundtrack that excellently racks up the creep factor. In fact, Yamaoka's participation was one of the game's selling points.
  • Creepy Cute: Sadness is a ghost in a porcelain mask who's missing one of her arms and tends to act like a stereotypical horror movie ghost girl, but she's also easily excitable and happy to help Marianne however she can. It helps that Marianne either doesn't consider Sadness creepy or chooses to ignore her creepiness.
  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: There has been some sentiment that the game would work better as a movie, as while combat is next to nonexistent and the puzzles are repetitive, its plot and atmosphere are above average.
  • Genius Bonus: One of the Memory Shards involving Ursula has her discussing what she plans to do with her patient Richard, which includes treating him with paroxetine. Specifically, 450 mg of paroxetine, an antidepressant, which is nine times the maximum recommended daily dose. Furthermore, Richard is catatonic, and paroxetine is not used to treat such a condition. As Ursula is a nurse by profession, it's effectively foreshadowing that by this point, Ursula is no longer at the wheel.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: One major criticism that some players have is that the game can be completed in five hours in spite of the reported seven to eight hours, which results in there being little game content.
  • Scenery Porn: The game takes full advantage of latest console generation with stunningly beautiful, near-photorealistic scenery; Niwa might be an overgrown ruin, but by gods, it's a beautiful ruin.
  • Wheelchair Woobie: Henry's son Simon. The only scene he's in establishes that he's very sad that his dad isn't around and that he's wheelchair-bound.
