YMMV / The General's Daughter

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: Timothy Hutton playing a character whose downfall is triggered by an inappropriate sexual relationship (given that he was Elizabeth's commanding officer) feels a lot more uncomfortable after Hutton was accused of rape during the Me Too era, leading to the derailment of his career, if not the end of it.
  • Signature Scene: The Scenery Porn and Awesome Music of the opening scene make for a powerful atmosphere in the build-up to the introduction of the general and the military establishment, causing the scene to be one of the best-liked and best-known parts of the film.
  • The Woobie: It is really hard not to feel bad for Elisabeth as the stories of her rape, her father's betrayal, and her self-destructive behavior come to light.
