- Catharsis Factor: After the polarizing actions of Felicity Smoak hijacking Barry and Iris' wedding to slap in her own with Oliver, it's refreshing to know that Iris didn't really approve of it either. Yet she didn't call her out on it, most likely so her wedding wouldn't be any more tainted than it already was. Even better, Barry didn’t even try to defend Felicity and placed her and Oliver’s gift in the "return" pile.
- Continuity Lockout: Barry and Iris are now married, on what was technically an episode of Legends of Tomorrow.
- Harsher in Hindsight: All in this season alone, there's a Running Gag of Barry getting imprisoned over various reasons note ; getting framed for murder is quite a dark punchline.
- I Knew It!:
- Played with. While The Thinker committing Grand Theft Me has been an extremely popular theory thus far, it was widely assumed he would pull it on Barry himself, rather than on episode newcomer Brainstorm. In fact, DeVoe implies that he can only pull this stunt on Dominic and no one else due to his telepathic abilities.
- However, DeVoe framing Barry for murder leading to a The Trial of the Flash scenario was also a popular theory, which ultimately turned out to be correct.
- Moral Event Horizon: DeVoe crosses it when he steals Dominic's body for himself, and then follows it up by framing Barry for the murder of his old body.
- Shocking Moments: The last five minutes reveals Marliz was Amunet's buyer, and that DeVoe took full control of Dominic. Just to make sure Barry's life and by extension Iris and the rest of Team Flash is hell, he leaves his murdered former body in Barry and Iris' loft. Cue Singh and a SWAT team breaking down the door and placing Barry under arrest for the murder of Clifford DeVoe. Marlize meets up with Clifford/Dominic and the two begin planning the Enlightenment.
- Take That, Scrappy!: Iris snarks at Felicity and Oliver’s expense for hijacking their wedding and Barry throws their gift in the “return” pile.
