YMMV: The Croods

  • Canon Sue: As part of the Parent-vs.-Boyfriend subplot, Grug must learn to deal with Guy, who is canonicallynote  the only character in-universe with a brain. This may or may not drag on when you start to realize that Guy, once he gets used to the Croods, is both charming and functionally omnicompetentnote . What threatens to make it insufferable is that Guy's constant superiority is almost always used to highlight Grug's inadequacies.
  • Ear Worm: "Smash and Grab", which plays during the opening hunt. The famous USC Marching Band collaborated with Alan Silvestri (the film's composer) on this particularly catchy tune. According to The Other Wiki, it samples the melody of Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk".
    • The song "Shine your way". Like many songs sung be Owl City, it will never leave...
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Belt.
    • The land whales.
    • Chuncky.
  • Estrogen Brigade: It's easy to see where Eep's attraction to Guy comes from.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The movie proved to be quite successful in many European countries. In many of said European countries, it even out-grossed Monsters University.
  • Memetic Mutation: ("The End") "Dun . . . dun . . . dun . . ."
  • Ugly Cute: Sandy
    • Also, Eep, to an extent.
      • Justified with them being neanderthals.
