YMMV / The Boss Baby: Back in Business

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: The beginning of the end credits theme sounds like somebody is rapping "what the fuck."
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Why is Bootsy Callico evil? His adoptive mom is the cat in the "hang in there" poster.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Due to the numerous inconsistencies between the show and movie, many choose to view the show as an Alternate Universe to the movie rather than as a sequel.
  • Fridge Horror: What happens to the personalities of Baby Corp babies whenever they run out of their temporary supply of formula? If Mega Fat's speech and the reactions in the final episode of season 3 are any indications, the personality is effectively dead even though the baby's life continues. This means that when Boss Baby stops taking the formula in the series finale, the character the audience followed for four seasons is basically dead and gone. Even when he grows up he will not be who he was while he was in Baby Corp

  • Heartwarming Moments: For all the show’s flaws, the relationship between the Templeton family is well done, especially between Tim and Boss baby. The two are always making sacrifices for each other and even though they argue a lot they do like hanging out with each other and clearly love one another. This is especially sweet since in the movie they started out hating each other.
    • Their relationship with Gigi is cute as well.
    • Tim and Boss Baby clearly love their parents and their parents in return are always trying to have fun with them
  • Jerkass Woobie: Mega-Fat CEO Baby plots for Boss Baby to fail, but it's completely justified: Boss Baby stole his marketing pitch. Worse is how Boss Baby passes this off as "just business."
  • The Scrappy: The Triplets barely serve any role in the show other than comic reliefs.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • The whole plot of the series is that there’s only a “limited amount of love” to go around. Everyone who is fighting just wants to be loved whether it’s cats, dogs, or old people.
    • Amazingly, Mega Fat's speech at the end of season three, which amounts to an It Has Been an Honor moment before his last bit of formula loses its effect. The way the other babies respond, they know they've permanently lost Mega Fat even if he still lives.
    • The season 4 ending which, with “The Boss Baby: Family Business” coming out, will probably be the Grand Finale. Realizing 100% baby love isn’t achievable, Boss Baby retires from Baby Corp. By the end of the episode, the last of the special formula has worn off and he’s just a regular baby. Despite everyone being okay with this (and the final shot is Tim and BB laughing together), the whole thing has a bittersweet feel.
      • This was jossed, as Netflix made Boss Baby: Back in The Crib
