* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Shinn's dialogue with Rey during the Battle of Messiah, after learning that he is a clone of [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED Rau Le Creuset]]:

** Scenario 35 features [[ThatOneBoss That One]] DuelBoss between [[Anime/{{Iczer}} Iczer-1 and Iczer-2]] as the rest of the party fight wave after wave of respawning {{Mook}}s, then Big Gold and [[Anime/DancougarNova Moon Will]] arrive, both with question-marked {{Hit Point}}s (actually [[UpToEleven six-figures]]) and a bunch of tough reinforcements, with four copies of [[Anime/{{Iczer}} Neos Gold]] as backup. If this is players' first playthrough and they didn't cherry-pick the strongest min-maxed units nor brought along long-ranged units, prepare for a MarathonLevel with three MarathonBoss fights in it, taking roughly several hours to beat.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: It's disappointing to see how ''L'' treats the debut of ''Rebuild of Evangelion''. The only playable characters from this series are the classic trio of [[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley Shikinami]], with only four [[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion Angels]] fought, meaning nothing that wasn't in [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion the television series]] already, [[spoiler:with the obvious exception of the seventh Angel]]. A case of IKnewIt for the skeptics, but it's worse as [[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion Mari Illustrious Makinami]] doesn't get anything more than a cameo.
** This is due to the trend of having a series listed in order to use its units (the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Nu Gundam]] being the best example), thus ''Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance'' is included to justify having Asuka.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Continuing the trend from K, Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny's cast is now MUCH more likable.
** The Archangel team covers the Minerva team while they escape from Orb instead of attacking both sides like in the show.
** Kira helps Shinn save Stella in Berlin instead of killing her, resulting in a drastically different version of Operation Angel Down.
** Unlike in K, ZAFT characters are no longer treated as the villain of the story. The Minerva crew joins the team fairly early on and all except Rey stay for the rest of the game.
** Shinn received quite a bit of CharacterDevelopment throughout the story, and ultimately decided to [[ScrewDestiny reject the Destiny Plan and stay with the heroes]] instead of being turned into Durandal's pawn by Rey.
** Talia never had an affair with Durandal, and also decided to oppose the Destiny Plan for the sake of her son's future.
** Rey pulls a ShutUpKirk when Kira gave him [[BreakThemByTalking the speech that broke him in the show]], pointing out the hypocrisy of a Super Coordinator rejecting the Destiny Plan, but is ultimately talked down by Shinn, his best friend, who convinced him that [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments he is not Rau Le Creuset, but Rey Za Burrel, his best friend]].
** Hell, even Durandal, the BigBad of the series, is ultimately convinced by the heroes that humanity is capable of deciding its own future, and even pulled a HeroicSacrifice by ramming the Messiah fortress into the moon, helping the heroes reach [[Anime/{{Iczer}} Big Gold and Neos Gold]].
* [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap Rescued From The]] ScrappyMechanic [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap Heap]]: The "Partner Battle" system is re-balanced and re-tooled than its use from ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsK'', offering the ability to switch partners on the battlefield and extra options for defensive and offensive actions, while removing increased Will gains and reducing the ability to destroy everything via the "Combo Attack" pilot skill for solo units.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: New remixes of "[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWingEndlessWaltz Last Impression]]" and "[[Anime/MacrossFrontier Triangular]]" are just some of the examples. The in-game rendition of "[[Manga/LinebarrelsOfIron Kitei no Tsurugi]]" is generally said to be much better than the actual song, although "[[Manga/LinebarrelsOfIron Proud]]" takes this up a notch; its rendition in ''L'' doesn't disappoint.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: At the end of the penultimate, the BigBad tries to wipe LOTUS out by shooting them with a {{BFG}} from the moon. How do our heroes survive? [[spoiler:By having the Rushbird absorb all the energy and transfer it to the Straybird, who uses it to create an "Imaginary Road" large enough to teleport ''everyone'' directly to the moon]].
** [[spoiler:[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Shinn Asuka]] delivering the kill shot on [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Lord Djibril]]]].
** [[spoiler: [[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion The Evas]] protecting [[Manga/LinebarrelsOfIron Linebarrel and the other Machinas]] from the gravity waves using their A.T. Fields, allowing them to activate the Final Phase.]]
** [[spoiler:[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsL Nagumo Ichitaka]] teaming up with [[Anime/GaikingLegendOfDaikuMaryu Daiya Tsuwabuki]] to destroy [[Anime/GaikingLegendOfDaikuMaryu Proist and her Chou Maryu Dvorak]] in Scenario 24]].
** [[spoiler:The final ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'' scenario, with the background music shuffling every turn, ending with a long CombinationAttack]].
* CrowningMomentOfFunny: [[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion Misato Katsuragi's car]], of all things, gets a map sprite cameo in the first ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'' scenario.

* DemonicSpiders: [[Anime/DancougarNova Regulus Alpha]]; these units come with {{Hit Point}}s worthy of a mini-boss, [[DeflectorShields a barrier]], potent short-ranged attacks and a tendency to make good use of their "Support Defense"[[note]]Pilot can provide defensive support to an adjacent ally[[/note]] and "Combo Attack"[[note]]Pilot can attack both units in a partner squad; at higher levels, target additional squads[[/note]] pilot abilities. Some of the levels in the game are positively swarming with them
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Let's put it this way - if any flaws of ''L'' is mentioned, it's likely the fact that [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsL Yuunagi Graife]] is more interesting than Ichitaka, and should've been the protagonist of the game, or at the very least, a selectable protagonist.
* GameBreaker: See [[Gamebreaker/SuperRobotWars entries here]]

Of course, this is before players discover returning series receive tweaked and/or brand new animations to match their return.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The Four Heavenly Kings from [[Anime/{{Iczer}} Iczer-3]] are all reduced to [CutsceneBoss Cutscene Bosses]], which is an extremely strange design choice, considering that leaves Iczer-3 with only three bosses from her series: Atros, Iczer-2 (which she shares with her sis, Iczer-1), and Neos Gold.
