• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: There are quite a few bizarre scenes that appear out of nowhere and then disappear just as quickly, but the dance party sequence in particular stands out in its sheer randomness.
• Captain Obvious Reveal: It's not a secret that the university's psychological research is causing the murders though whether this is through unintended side effects or a deliberate plot is a little ambiguous at first.
• Cult Classic: While never remotely reaching the same level of fame as some of the more well known 80s slashers, the movie was both a critical and commercial success and maintained a devoted following over the years. In the 2000s, Dey Young, Dan Shor, and Bill Condon reunited to provide a commentary for a DVD release.
• Signature Scene:
  • The choreographed dance sequence at the party.
  • Pete getting injected in the eye with a giant needle.
• Values Dissonance: The amount of smoking in the movie, especially by such young characters would not likely be portrayed today.
