  • Harsher in Hindsight: Part of the plot of the Alternate Reality Game is the Muse gaslighting Alex into thinking viewers don't care about his independent horror movies, even using another of his victims, the Cynical Critic, to reinforce this, prompting Alex to officially call himself "The SpongeBob Guy", and lament how people only seem to care about his SpongeBob videos. After Alex announced that Theory #8 was his final SpongeBob theory and that his ARG would continue independent of the theories, his channel saw a large drop-off in subscribers and views, unintentionally validating the Muse's poisonous words: most viewers really did only care for the theories.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: There's a significant contingent of viewers who only care for the theories themselves, caring little for Alex's horror Alternate Reality Game that served as a Framing Device, and expressed displeasure at Alex announcing that Theory #8 would be the last theory while the ARG continued independently. Case in point, when a compilation video of the ARG segments was later released so that one could understand the narrative outside of the theories, after roughly three months it only amassed a little less than 250,000 views. Contrast that with Theory #8, released three months earlier than that, nearly 2 million views, with Alex's most popular video, Theory #3, having 15 million views. Alex himself appears to have taken notice of this, as despite his original announcement that Theory #8 would be the last theory, he later released a trailer for Theory #9, said trailer placing heavy focus on the ARG footage, but still declaring another theory nonetheless.
  • Nausea Fuel: In "The Time-Traveling Ghost Pirate Theory," seeing Alex eating raw meat is one thing, but audibly hearing the wet, chewing sounds is squeamish.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Anyone could be controlled by the Muses, and anyone online could be a Muse themselves. And then in the ninth episode we find out that they can take the form of people. Trust no one.
  • Spiritual Successor: The series itself serves as this to both of Alex Bale's previous series, Promos and Pizza Time Pizza.
