YMMV / Slendytubbies

Go To

  • Ascended Fan Nickname: Some characters like the "Ghost Girl" or the "Yeti Tubby" were never referred to as such in-game or even outside. This would later happen in Worlds.
  • Ascended Meme: In Slendytubbies 2D, an inside joke known as Thick Noo-Noo can be seen on the sliding title screen background if you stay long enough.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: If you go to the mountains in Chapter 2, a creature knocks The Guardian out and then drags him off somewhere. Later, when The Guardian wakes up, he comes face to face with a droid chopping wood for its "master", who turns out to be the creature that knocked him out. The robot says politely that it will chop him up if he stays there until dawn.
  • Cheese Strategy: Overlaps with Artificial Stupidity. As enemies in 2 and 3 guard the custard that is the closest to the player, it's possible to find them, pick up the custard when they look away, then follow them until the next one, and repeat.
  • Demonic Spiders: The rocket New Borns in 3's Survival mode can be pretty annoying, as they're the only regular enemies capable of ranged attacks. On harder difficulty levels, it's recommended to stay away and kill them first.
  • Even Better Sequel: The second game is considered by some to be the scariest, both visually and in terms of atmosphere. It was also from this point that the series began to move away from Slender.
  • Goddamned Bats: The spider robots in 3's Survival mode are not very common and are easy to kill. On the other hand, they are small and a little faster than the other enemies, making them more likely to sneak up on you.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: With the introduction of the Tiddlytubbies in the 2015 reboot of the Teletubbies, some of the unofficial Teletubbies colors from this game would become official colors: Ruru is orange (Arrow Tubby), Ping is Pink (Anne) and Baa is blue (Ron).
  • Narm Charm: The entire series can be considered as this, from its concept to its execution, especially 3's Campaign. The game creator also pointed out that the series remains fundamentally a parody and therefore shouldn't be taken too seriously.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Depending on one's opinion of the original TV series, which is already perceived as Accidental Nightmare Fuel by some, the concept of Slendytubbies may make it even worse.
    • For a Stock Scream, the one Tinky makes is very bloodcurdling.
    • The Outskirts is a wide desertic expanse with only a few ruins, which may raise questions about what happened there in the first place. Its aspect in the second game is emphasised by an ominous yellow light in the sky and a somewhat ponderous atmosphere. On top of that, the place is roamed by Laa-Laa who is often regarded as having one of the most unnerving designs in the series.
  • Nightmare Retardant:
    • It's quite easy to break the game by reaching high areas that enemies cannot reach under any circumstances.
    • Some enemies in 2 and 3 have slow attack animations, to the point where you can stare at them while moving backwards without ever being hit.
    • The Imposter in 3 is a random, bland-looking robot wielding a big sword and wearing Dipsy's hat.
  • That One Level: The Training Maze in the second game. Not only is it a confusing and cramped maze with only one possible entry, but a total of four enemies. Have fun.
    • This same location was then ported over to the third game, and it's even worse. The enemies are the same, but two of them now have fast attacks that are impossible to avoid in this situation.
  • Shock Fatigue: Tinky Winky's scream is long... and loud. Although it may work the first few times, it can become more annoying than frightening as you come across him again and again, especially in the first game.
  • Ugly Cute: The regular variant of New Borns can fall into this since they are essentially armless, deadly Teletubbies crying like babies.
  • Underused Game Mechanic:
    • The flashlight has unlimited battery power, so there's virtually no need to use it other than at night, and enemies are not affected in any way.
    • In 3's Campaign, Laa-Laa is a threat if you decided to wake her during Chapter 0. She's blind, and you have to pick up custards without making too much noise, which means not moving in this situation. This is the only time in the series where the sound mechanic is ever used.
  • Viewer Name Confusion: Many people think that the Guardian is named "Walten". This has been debunked several times by the game creators, who have made it clear that the character has the same name as the player.
  • The Woobie: Most of the Teletubbies, really, especially Laa-Laa if you decided not to wake her during Chapter 0.
