YMMV / Sky Does Minecraft

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Husky's one-line cameo in "Hide and Seek #5":
    Husky: I'M CONFUSED SEXUALLY. BYE.
    • Some of the cutaways during Sky's videos as well. Lampshaded in his "Skycraft" review:
(TNT exploding everywhere) WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?!
  • Bizarro Episode: "Sky's Easter".
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Jerome started appearing in Sky's videos fairly recently, compared to Deadlox and Jason, but he has quickly risen to become one of the funniest characters in the videos.
    • The same goes for MunchingBrotato, who has also started appearing regularly in Sky's videos, and has gotten a massive amount of positive feedback from the fans.
  • Gateway Series: This was pretty much inevitable, due to Sky being one of the most popular Minecraft Let's Players. Previously less well-known mini-games, mods, adventure or parkour maps and even other Let's Players gained popularity after Sky did a video about them.
    • One of the earliest examples is Bodil40's Epic Jump Map series.
  • Growing the Beard: Older videos are generally quieter and seemingly less "random" than current ones.
  • Hype Backlash: He's insanely popular in the Minecraft community, and most of his fans see him as the Sacred Cow. This has led to a sizable hatedom against him, especially from fans of other Minecraft LP'ers.
  • It's Popular, Now It Sucks!/They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Has gained this from ex-fans when the channel got an huge increase in subscriber count, and thus slowly made a shift from them merely playing with friends to becoming more gimmicky. Also, the increase in douchebaggery from Sky in the videos hasn't gone unnoticed.
    • Due to wanting to make their content more Lighter and Softer around late 2014 since they were going to be a father and understandably wanted to be a good rolemodel, their popularity capped off around little under than twelve million subscribers and fans began to move on. According to the man themself in their channel shutdown video in late 2017, they began to lose interest in gaming itself a couple of years before the announcement as well.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: For the fans, Sky's singing.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: In a non-romantic way at least, though the shippers may think otherwise. The server that Sky and HuskyMudkipz do their Guild series co-op on is literally named SkyKipz.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Post Malone was a friend of Adam long before his music career took off. He's best known for being in the "SPONTANEOUS TRICK OR TREAT" video.
  • The Scrappy: When Sky's IRL friend KermitPlaysMC was added to the crew, a large amount of fans voiced their dislike for him. This eventually died out when Kermit left Team Crafted, and thus mostly stopped recording with Sky and Co. altogether.
  • Shipping: ''Skylox''. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds likenote . There's a Tumblr group devoted to them, and there are a lot of fanfics and fanart out there about the pairing.
    • It's tied for the most popular ship for Team Crafted on Tumblr with Meromenote .
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Sky/Adam announcing that they have been at discontent with playing Minecraft and video games, deciding to move on and start a rap career under a new channel, NetNobody. According to their interview on DramaAlert, it was in part due to said drama with Alesa and being unhappy with the recent Minecraft/video gaming community. Of course, we are supportive of their desire to move forward, it's just sad that the old days have come and gone now after about five years of SkyDoesMinecraft.
      • Their decision to private all their videos on New Year's of 2018. Of course, they went back on their decision after a while but still.
