YMMV / Seihou

  • Awesome Music: Has its own page.
  • Contested Sequel: Banshiryuu. Some fans think it's a solid game, with good graphics and a fun challenge. Other fans believe it's an unfair, boring mess, and aren't interested in it because ZUN wasn't involved. And even among fans of Banshiryuu, there's a debate on whether the C67 or C74 version is better.
  • Difficulty Spike:
    • The first three enemies you face in Kioh Gyoku will probably kill themselves before you attack. Morgan puts up a bit of a fight. Muse, though...
    • In Banshiryuu, Yuuta Kirishima, the stage 2 boss, is a massive spike from Erich, and is even harder than the stage 3 bosses!
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Gates, who is the only character besides VIVIT to appear in every Seihou game, including Samidare.
    • Muse is also well-liked, because of her cool concept and design that stand out from the setting, her themes, and her infamously tough boss fights.
  • Low-Tier Letdown:
    • VIVIT is seen as the worst character in Kioh Gyoku, because her stats are all average, has very little attacks who can defeat opponents quickly, and most of her charge attacks have many bullets that can be grazed by opponents, which results in MANY extremely dense clusters of bullets being sent over to the player's side.
    • HiranoB in Banshiryuu's C67 version, she has powerful shots that are difficult to use, and her speed is simply too slow, which is a problem in a game with such fast bullets. Her bomb is also very short, which is not helpful during the timeout SE attacks. Thankfully, she has been significantly improved in the C74 version, where she's more Difficult, But Awesome.
    • VIVIT-rA has become this in the C74 version. In C67, despite being slow and not too powerful, she made up for it with her excellent range and long-lasting bomb. In the C74 version, she is the slowest character by far, made even more annoying by the fact that she actually moves faster when not shooting. In addition, her damage output is very low, making boss fights drag on and on.
  • Memetic Mutation: Yuuka's bio for her appearance. THAT'S where youkai moe~ originated.
    • Speaking of Yuuka, her infamous spell card art has become very popular in edits because of its weird pose and creepy face.
  • That One Boss: Has its own page.
