  • Awesome Music: For what it's worth, the game's soundtrack isn't lacking. There's the title/main menu theme, which is on par with the Battletoads pause theme in terms of catchiness, the ethereal and haunting Submenu theme or any of the mission themes.
  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The game's story is actually far better than you'd expect. A complex political thriller where the Japanese government are plotting behind the scenes to play both your band of mercenaries and the rogue faction of the armed military to restore order with the presentation of a Metal Gear Solid game. It's a shame that it's packaged with a game that doesn't teach the players its mechanics (if your copy of the game didn't come with a manual, you're on your own) and is overly difficult in spite of it's short story, due to an appalling balance oversight.   • It's Hard, So It Sucks!: Anyone who has played the game's story mode can very much tell you that aside from the game's mechanics not being properly explained, you're also stuck with shoddy equipment for your Bullets, strict turn limits and enemies who can tear your party to shreds. It's no surprise that most people didn't even get to see the game's major plot twist, let alone the ending considering they have to go through 11 stages (i.e all of them!) before Life Mode is unlocked.
  • Narm: While the game itself has no problems in terms of presentation, with the character art being passable, the voice acting is utterly atrocious. If you want a good idea of how bad it is, you're bound to have difficulty figuring out if the voice actors are human beings or text-to-speech. This actually causes a scene late in the story to lose all of it's drama. The scene in question involves the commander of the enemy forces committing suicide, which would be impactful if the voice acting didn't sound like it was voiced by a speaking clock.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: You have to clear eleven levels before you can upgrade your units. The game is not balanced for your inability to boost your stats. Oh, and for extra fun, there are only eleven levels in the game. You can't level up until you beat the game.
  • That One Level: Mission 11, which gives your team twelve turns to kill six enemy units. The problem is that the enemies are able to easily do 200 or more damage to you with a single hit, while you're lucky to do a tenth of that to them. You're very likely to have your units die getting close enough to have anything resembling accuracy. Adding insult to injury, you don't get access to Life Mode - which lets you actually upgrade your units - until after you clear this stage and the game.
