YMMV / Rick Rude

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • His 1980s theme, "The Stripper." It's one of those songs that instantly lets you know what this character is about.
    • His WCW theme "Simply Ravishing". WCW's entrance themes in the 90's were generally meh, but this was one of the few memorable ones.
  • Cross the Line Twice: Rude giving Francine an unsolicited "moustache ride". While Francine was in on him lifting her up and carrying her out, she was NOT in on him lifting up her dress, hoisting her upside down and burying his face in her thong-covered crotch and ass and motorboating her. The fans thought this was hilarious. She did not.
  • Once Original, Now Common: The narcissistic, image-obsessed, endlessly cocky Heel is more commonplace now, but back in The '80s he was the go-to guy to see that kind of persona. In fact, many heels later actually copied elements of what Rude did, such as Val Venis (who was a cross between Rude and Dirk Diggler), "Dashing" Cody Rhodes and most notably Lex Luger in his "Narcissist" gimmick, which was copied later by "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: His WCW theme "Simply Ravishing" sounds a great deal like "How Will I Know" by Whitney Houston, especially on the chorus.
