In fact, many heels later actually copied elements of what Rude did, such as Val Venis (who was a cross between [=Rude=] and [[Film/BoogieNights Dirk Diggler]]), [[Wrestling/CodyRhodes "Dashing" Cody Rhodes]] and most notably Wrestling/LexLuger in his "Narcissist" gimmick, which was copied later by "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters.

There must've been no hard feelings as Warrior later fondly recalled Rude as an opponent and how much he taught him in their matches.

** In the aftermath of the MontrealScrewjob, Rick Rude was one of the people who confirmed what had really happened to the WCW higher-ups: apparently, there was some skepticism from Eric Bischoff that what they were seeing wasn't really a work [[note]] After all, the idea of ''legitimately'' screwing your champion out of the belt for no other reason than panicky spite was ''unheard of,'' even in the business of wrestling. [[/note]] However, Rude had been so disgusted by the display that he called Bischoff and told him: No, what you're seeing wasn't a work. Bret Hart was legitimately screwed. Rude cared about the boys in the back.

Finally, after one too many "God damn"s, Rude pulled the car over and the following exchange happened. (paraphrased)
