• Overshadowed by Controversy: Howdie's reputation started to derail due to making content that was perceived as being anti-Semitic (using swastikas) and anti-black early in their career. Their reputation was further tarnished from them using the N-word by their self insert, Randal Ivory. They remain controversial outside of their fanbase as a result.
• Periphery Demographic: While Randal's Friends was created mostly for author enjoyment, most of the demographic it leaned to was teenagers despite some adult humor and insistence that it was written as a diary.
• Values Dissonance: The content aforementioned created did not age well from the author's cultural ignorance, citing unawares of the controversial racial matters as a result of "living in Canada."
