- Alternate Character Interpretation:
- Was Oak right to reject Agatha because she was power hungry or was he the power hungry one and he refused to see that she finally realized what her husband was doing for the last ten years?
- Similarly, did Agatha want to go back to Oak because she wanted power or did she realize that she was wrong for doubting her husband and realized that they can finally avenge their dead son and daughter-in-law?
- Anti-Climax Boss: Mewtwo. As long as you got a Dark-type, you got this in the bag, for he has no Miracle Eye or other coverage moves to counter themnote . With that being said, Mewtwo can actually hit Dark-types during the post-game optional rematch, but a solid Dark-type is still a good match-up against him.
- Nausea Fuel: In contrast to the original version of the game, the description of Captain Arab's vomit is... a tad more descriptive."Chunks of sauteed Magikarp lie floating in a pile of vomit... The sight would surely make a younger person squirm in disgust!"
- The Woobie: Blue; he suffers from being Always Second Best to Red, his grandfather is neglectful at best, and the game not only runs with the fan theory that Red killed his Raticate in battle, but reveals that Professor Oak's response to this was basically "go catch a stronger one". Damn. Once he becomes Champion, he loses mere minutes later and Oak just blows him off, stating he's a failure who didn't love and respect his Pokémon enough. Blue breaks down crying over how he did love and respect his team and just wanted his grandfather to say he was proud of him.
