- Awesome Music: Happens multiple times per album.
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The 50s-esque announcer introducing the band members at the end of "Icarus Lives!"
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Mark Holcomb didn't tour with the band for a period during 2019 and his absence wasn't fully explained. He doesn't appear on the Live in London live album because of it.
- Follow the Leader: Regarded as one of the flagship bands of the djent scene...not like they particularly care. Are themselves following in Meshuggah's footsteps.
- Funny Moments:
- They played a show in Paris on Halloween (31st October) in 2012 where they all dressed up in corpse paint and pretended to be a black metal band called "Peripheroth". The band fully got into character, including Spencer talking to the crowd like a black metal vocalist.
- As an April fools joke for a show on April 1st 2015, they rickrolled the entire audience at the beginning of their set. They also showed hilarious photoshops of the band members created by Devin Townsend (they were on tour with him at the time) on the projector screens behind them during the show.
- Misha made Spencer crack up on stage during a live performance of "Atropos" in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2023.
- Replacement Scrappy: As noted on the main page, Spencer has the lion's share of flak directed towards him. A small contingent also worried about Mark joining the band, especially given the release of "Passenger", worried that they'd have to sit through rehashes of Haunted Shores.
- It's implied in the Rockumentary accompanying Periphery IV: Hail Stan that the reason why they haven't hired a new bass player and won't for the foreseeable future is because they're worried about this happening again.
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: "Absolomb" and "Motormouth" were originally not going to be used as Periphery songs... until Spencer decided to write some vocals for them to see what it would sound like. Both songs were originally written instrumentally before even the first album was released.
