YMMV / Periphery

  • All-Loving Hero: Mark is this to the fans.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Misha. He plays this for laughs, often referring to his ethnicity as being "brown".
  • Big Lipped Alligator Moment: The 50s-esque announcer introducing the band members at the end of "Icarus Lives!"
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: See above.
    • Also a show they played on April 1st 2015, where they rickrolled the entire audience at the beginning of their set and then showed hilarious photoshops of the band members created by Devin Townsend (they were on tour with him at the time) on the projector screens behind them.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: Happens multiple times per album.
    • "Icarus Lives" and "Letter Experiment" from the debut.
    • "Face Palm Mute" and "Make Total Destroy" from Periphery II. That's not even counting the three guest guitar solos that feature on the album, including one from JOHN FUCKING PETRUCCI.
    • "Alpha", "22 Faces" and "Omega" from the Juggernaut albums.
    • "The Price Is Wrong", "Marigold" and "Lune" from Periphery III.
  • Ear Worm: "I'm neither angel nor a demonspawn..."
    • "Facepalm Mute", so very much.
    • "Turn the sad song up on the ray-ray-radio" from "Heavy Heart".
    • The chorus of "Marigold".
  • Epic Riff: EVERYTHING! Though, special mention to, "Icarus Lives," "The Bad Thing," "Make Total Destroy," "All New Materials," and "Jetpack Was Yes."
  • Face of the Band: Guitarist/producer/programmer/songwriter Bulb, who formed the band and is undoubtedly one of the most iconic musicians of the djent scene.
    • Matt Halpern is a close second, particularly for his work with Animals as Leaders and helping to found Bandhappy and The Entertainment Institute.
  • Follow the Leader: Regarded as the flagship band of the rapidly expanding djent scene...not like they particularly care. Are themselves following in Meshuggah's footsteps.
  • Replacement Scrappy: As noted on the main page, Spencer Sotelo has the lion's share of Hatedom directed towards him. A small contingent also worried about Mark Holcomb joining the band, especially given the release of "Passenger", worried that they'd have to sit through rehashes of Haunted Shores.
  • Signature Song: "Icarus Lives"; or "Alpha" to newer fans.
