• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • In the story, Spirit (Luz's father) is the person who gave Luz her first copy of The Good Witch Azura, and started her love of fantasy. In "Thanks to Them", it's revealed that Luz's canon father, Manny did the same thing. The only difference being that Manny died shortly after this, and Azura was his final present to his daughter.
  • The Author states that he is making strides to give the Emperor's Coven more bite than in canon in order to be competitive in terms of menace with the Witch Order, especially people like Medusa Gorgon. While the Canon Emperor's Coven is still fairly bumbling for the most part, Belos himself turns out to be just as vile and monstrous as Medusa herself, right down to his willingness to murder his own family members and artificial creations, namely the Grimwalkers of his brother.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: At several points throughout the story, Luz expresses her awe of her younger half sister Maka for her ability and skill in manipulating her Soul Wavelength, freely hoping to learn the ability herself. While this does make sense for Luz's love of fantasy as a whole, "Thanks to Them" reveals that Luz had posters for a series called Spirit Devourer up in her bedroom, meaning that Luz's canon self may well have wished for that same ability.
