  • While Adeghast's puppets were bad enough in canon, here they're explicitly people who he tricked and ate the souls of, after which he taxidermized their bodies. Luz is rather horrified to realize the fate she nearly suffered when Eda reveals this.
    • Also, when Luz first questions why Adeghast is buying from Eda when he makes potions himself, his control of his puppet slips in a rather horrifying fashion.
  • When Medusa first appears, we get a detailed look at the "experiments" she's forced Crona and Ragnarok to undergo, and both it and Medusa's clinical detachment to the death she's caused is rather chilling.
  • King plays with a puzzle box, assuming that it’s a doomsday device, only for it to turn out to be actually dangerous despite Eda’s initial assumptions. Luckily, Eda stops it in time, but if she hadn’t been there when the box had opened…
  • It's reiterated how Maka and Soul took out nearly a hundred Kishin Eggs, who all killed at least one person.
  • Maleficent's Briarwood is an incredibly dangerous plant, even by Demon Realm standards, in part because it feeds on magic. When Willow uses the deadhead that Luz found to get her, the human, and Gus past the Hexside barrier, she accidentally gets some on her and it starts to grow into her body. Luckily, Eda is able to burn it away before it can get past the skin, but still.
  • Sonson is so nuts that it seems that he genuinely cannot get what's wrong with killing anyone that he wants.
  • Hunter trapping Crona in a coffin to try and suffocate them... only for it not to take.
  • Luz touches the window in the Owl House during a boiling rainstorm, only for the heat to burn her hand, driving in how dangerous the weather on the Isles can be.
  • While it's just a training method for Soul Wavelength by removing distractions and she's never in any actual danger, the sensory deprivation spell that Eda put Luz in can be a bit scary, especially when she first goes in and she feels like she's drowning.
  • Eda's transformations into the Owl Beast are a lot worse than in canon here. Besides the description of Eda forcing the Owl Beast's Soul Wavelength down, even though Owlbert gets her an elixir just in time, she's still left with numerous injuries from the graphically-described Painful Transformation, including several broken ribs and multiple dislocations. Sure, she has Owlbert there to help heal her, and the side effects that let her shrug off having her head chopped off help mitigate the damage long-term, but it's still horrifying.
  • Eda hides her exhaustion from maintaining the barrier and helping Luz find her Soul Wavelength under an illusion spell, so when she demonstrates the light spell to Luz and hits her Heroic RRoD, she coughs up blood before collapsing.
  • After Eda turns into the Owl Beast and Luz and King find her room empty when they go to give her the elixir they found, things get weird, with a doorway to the foyer from Eda's room opening up and then suddenly vanishing after Luz goes through it, and then Luz finds that the world outside the Owl House is seemingly gone and replaced by a black void. And of course, the Owl Beast is in the room, with Luz seeing it right before the chapter ends...
  • The Snaggleback getting eaten by Eda is a lot more brutal here, even if we don't see any of it. Admittedly, he probably deserved it for wanting to eat Luz even after she helped him escape, but still.
  • Just the fact that the Snaggleback was once the genuinely terrifying beast King knew him as from his research, all fueled by consumption of human Souls, and his hunger for them is so great that even though Luz helped free him from the Conformatorium, he was willing to enter Eda's home in the hopes that he could kill her and gain her Soul despite being so weak that it's unlikely he could do her much real harm.
  • Right before Soul wakes up, he dreams that he's ripping his way out of Maka's stomach.
